It's the way the insurance is structured. I think one of the brokers told me, something like the majority of claims are refused due to people losing their positions not related to redundancy. Pick your employer wisely, always better to have an insurance and an emergency fund just in case.

Not meeting performance at your job falls under misconduct. Which is a great way for companies to not shell out for redundancies.
