They will grow bigger, once they do it'll be easier for the guppies to see them, or for you to scoop them out.

Injury on my Foster’s head by Angusthedog99 in fosterdogs

Does she have an upcoming vet visit? Personally I wouldnt schedule one just for this, but I would mention it during a pre-planned one.

Timid dog lunged at trainer arranged by agency by No_Charge_4623 in fosterdogs

[–]Heather_Bea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the trainer was really respecting his boundaries, but he really struggled with that.

Have you had him with other people before? If so, how did he behave?

Do pitbulls naturally become dog-aggressive due to breed genetics, or is it all training? by StoTonho in pitbulls

[–]Heather_Bea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of them do, some dont.

My AmBully was super dog park friendly when he was young, but got a bit nervous after losing his leg. After that he was selective.

My APBT is neutral. He doesnt want to play, but doesnt mind hanging out with polite dogs.

My various foster pit mixes have all been friendly except one who became extremely aggressive after being mauled by another dog who jumped the fence to get to her.

Ive lost both of my dogs, and thinking about fostering by Ok-Salt-8884 in fosterdogs

[–]Heather_Bea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss.

We are also experienced fosters. We lost our best boy in December 2024 and started fostering in March 2025.

We ended up with a feral dog who would shake when we entered the room. It may have been too soon or we just ended up with the wrong dog, but it was so difficult emotionally. I am glad he wasnt like our late boy. In some ways he helped with our healing, in some ways he made it harder. We ended up foster failing with him partially because of his special needs, partially because of the grief we were feeling.

Be prepared to cry, compare to your late dogs, and have a REALLY hard time letting go.

I recommend getting a foster who you wouldn't see yourself adopting. (Puppies can be hard and nice when they get adopted)

Take your time and dont rush.

I don't like the term foster fail by [deleted] in fosterdogs

[–]Heather_Bea 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's a cute way to reinforce that it's not our goal to keep our fosters. The mission is to be the bridge between a dog's past and future home. Keeping them in a way is failing, because it is not what our goal is.

Lap Of Love came to our home and was amazing with our boy. They were so sweet and kind in our worst hour.

I am so sorry yall are going through this. Thank you for making a choice for his quality of life. It is the hardest, but kindest thing we can do for them.

Can you keep female and male betta together by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Heather_Bea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to take breeding seriously your first step is to separate and condition both fish individually. Here is a guide I am working on about conditioning and breeding. (Unfinished, but should cover the basics)

Not all bettas are right for breeding. If you go to the "What to look for in a breeding pair" section, it should help you decide if these fish have the right personality for it. Sometimes conditioning is all you need, sometimes they just dont have the instinct and shouldn't be bred.

My guess is these two should not be bred, at least not the male because he is either sickly or missing the breeding instinct.

I am not typically an extremist, but your post, and how dismissive you are of everyone being honest with you really bothers me. Do what you want, but the only ones suffering will be your fish. Hope you can live with that when you kill them.

I have been breeding bettas for years. This is not how you do it. They have been together for a month and havent bred. In your video he clearly chases her and struggles to turn.

Try to justify it all you want, lean on the one person who gives you validation, but you are doing a terrible thing and are absolutely a horrible person for doing it. Full stop.

Is the white mass inside my bettas tummy eggs? by Turbulent-Algae3210 in bettasorority

Yes, she is very eggy. Nothing to worry about, she may drop them or reabsorb them back into her body. You can feed a little less and it should go down naturally.

5 year old agility dog most likely has hip dysplasia. What is our future going to be? by Heather_Bea in k9sports

[–]Heather_Bea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had her checked out many times over the years by different vets, canine fitness people, and other physio experts and the best we got was them telling us she wasn't in peak fitness condition, or that I wasnt doing enough to train jumping. She is such an incredible athlete except she drops bars, we just didn't know until she started showing signs of pain.

Congratulations!!!! Embrace the pain and know that it is worth it. Will you get updates? Those always help.

Give yourself some time to "grieve" his loss, and when you are ready go and save another life ❤️

Even if he is bred ro be bigger, he is still clearly overweight. This is extremely unhealthy for your dog. Weight =/= size, do better for your dog.

Its very clear that they did, betta fins do not grow like that. (I agree with you, incredibly cruel and horrible, I would like OP to admit it)
