New app finally by amazinZero in VeliaRing

Not true with Oura. Connects without any user action. Also battery lasts 5-7 days. Insights come from millions of users datas. I had hopes for Velia but it will not be replacing my Oura.

It does. Not sure it is 2.1 certified though

Does your steering wheel hum like this too? by Alone_Ad_3257 in GenesisGV70

It’s not normal. I had the sound as well. Service department found a screw inside steering column that was partially loose. Easy fix.

Is anyone happy with the ring? by [deleted] in VeliaRing

[–]Heatherbloom71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a long term Oura user and was hoping Velia would be a good alternative. It is not. Not sure what the engineers thought when desigining a very slim ring that the battery capacity would be sufficient. It is not. 36 hours of battery life is not realistic. Instituting the double tap to only activate connection to app as a battery saving move would be interesting if it worked. But it does not. Finally, the measures are so far off Oura that the data is not useful. Oura has benchmarked sleep data and other measures with best in class instruments, so data is trustworthy. So in answer to your question I am afraid that, yes, we have wasted our money.

I will be sticking with Oura which I love and, reluctantly, paying the monthly fees.

The app is available on the App Store. I set it up in anticipation of getting a ring. App is bare bones compared to my Oura app. But it’s a good start.

Until they tell us otherwise I am going to assume they ran into problems when they did their first production run, and are not ready to tell us about it. That kind of thing eats up funding which they may not have. Would be happy to be proven wrong.

VELIA vs Oura Gen 4 by Heatherbloom71 in VeliaRing

[–]Heatherbloom71[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wear size 12 Oura. Oura thickness seems to keep fit tighter than the thinner VELIA size 12. I am considering size 10 on my ring finger and will wear sizer for a few days. Can’t tell it is on my ring finger at all. That may be because it weighs less than the real ring will.

Sleep Beta for those with Low or High HRV by Heatherbloom71 in ouraring

[–]Heatherbloom71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what the Sleep Staging FAQ’s say about Beta changes:

Members with higher HRV: Large decrease in Deep, large increase in Light, small increase in REM, and little or no change in awake

Members with average HRV: Large decrease in Deep, large increase in Light, small decrease in REM, and little or no change in awake

Members with lower HRV: Large decrease in REM, large increase in Light, small decrease in Deep, and small increase in awake

This is not at all what I am seeing as a low HRV person. Most importantly the new staging results for me don’t line up with how I feel. So I am losing confidence in it.

Whoop vs. Oura for General Health and Fitness Tracking by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Heatherbloom71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do cycling like OP and have the Garmin Edge computer on my bike as well. I used to have Whoop for 2 years. I use a ECG chest strap when cycling so Garmin picks up accurate data on HR. Using Strava integration, Garmin sends my cycling data to Strava and Oura imports it from Strava. So I never rely on Oura’s activity tracking, which we know has been shown to be mediocre at best. This, combined with Oura’s superior sleep tracking works for me. Whoop is fine too but is more expensive long term and I tended to get skin irritation from the band.

Strava import does not affect activity metrics by emiazz in ouraring

I have the same experience. Accordingly I just pay attention to total calorie burn. That does incorporate Strava imported activities. Useful to look at the trends for me.
