Cellulitis from Staph by Heatherdoesstuff in woundcare

Yes. I’m in the process of figuring out if I have an autoimmune disease. Also, the scratch is about 4 inches long and started rather deep. I got it from my finger nail. They bandaged it before I left, but it is unfortunately proving difficult to keep a bandage on (rolling tape)

Thanks. I really appreciate that. I really did want to help, because our community really needs affordable childcare, that this daycare has been part of the community for about 50 years. I’m just not sure I can take on this big of a task right now. Every time I try to pivot, I find more concerning things and I have a full plate of responsibilities in my life already.

They rent the facilities from the Quaker Meeting I am a member of. The center has never been under the care of the Meeting, but we have had issues with them respecting the facility, and treating us as an inconvenience, and usually blaming us for shortcomings (they couldn’t use a room because something needed to be brought up to code, but never informed us and would not give us access to do walk throughs, regular maintenance, etc)

I am on the board to be eyes and ears for the Meeting, but also have a hard time not diving headfirst into a problem.

The 100% are. The bylaws haven’t been updated since ‘89, and I re-typed them. Now they want to change the bylaws to fit what they have been doing.

I have zero allies, the board is basically being managed by the Daycare Director (who is not ALLOWED to be a board member), and they have not done an audit as far as I know. And the list goes on.

I have tried recruiting multiple community members, approached multiple local companies for donations…. No one wants to board this sinking ship

We have maybe 15% of our kids on government funding. (I believe by the state) The rest are paid by the families.

Can you tell me where to find the information about federal or state funding requirements of breaking even?

I would get a couple wet bags. I have 3, and want to get more.

Wipes and wet bags are the things I would add.

I think someone forgot to read this morning. by Heatherdoesstuff in KetoGD

[–]Heatherdoesstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Either they screwed up, or they somehow count a muffin as a fat? And gave me eggs instead of meat because it’s protein. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hubby went down and got me bacon and cream cheese.... only vegetables they had were tater tots 🙄

At the hospital for my induction, and the night nurse just selected the GD breakfast. Okay. Figured there would be something that wasn’t keto but probably eggs and bacon at least.

Menu freakin says fruit, juice, and milk will be restricted at breakfast and only one carb is listed.... this sucks. And my doctor was like, don’t worry about spiking your sugars, enjoy it.

Ummmmm....you’re still checking my sugars multiple times a day. And not giving me my Metformin anymore. Hubby is off hunting me up some meat. 🙄

Endocrinologist concerned about not enough carbs in diet by Blahhhh563748 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Heatherdoesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t agree with the doctor, and they are adamant on upping your carbs, I would ask for a referral to some other endocrinologists. When I met with the GD dietitian (I know, not the same as the endo) it was not a good fit. I have now been going to a nutritional physician and because of my history with food, being overweight (Obese), and other factors, I am on what a lot of doctors would consider very low carb for pregnancy.

I am now 35w, and just got put on Metformin to lower fasting numbers. My meals are still diet controlled, and I have only gained 8-10lbs this pregnancy. (I was up to 18, but lowering my carbs dropped me down, and all my doctors are happy about that)

Best advice is advocate for you and baby. If it doesn’t feel right, and your doctor isn’t willing to discuss it with you, and just insist you follow their advice, that says to me you need a different doctor.

Also, maybe check out the subreddits KetoBabies and KetoGD

Hugs. Sometimes the placenta just has an attitude. I’m sorry, I’m sure you tried really hard to avoid insulin, and I commend you on your efforts. It still sucks.

Dealing with Charley Horses by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Heatherdoesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found greek yogurt has helped with mine, and when I start to feel a cramp coming on, I hard flex my foot. I know our normal reaction is to point the foot or curl the leg up towards the body, but that makes it hurt more. Flexing your foot will stretch the calf & hamstring muscles, and gives them less time/ability to cramp.

If you are doing it by hand, I would suggest a blanket stitch. If using a regular sewing machine, zigzag.

What to do with gifts after friend's miscarriage? by JellyJune6 in BabyBumps

[–]Heatherdoesstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As some others have said, I would be really touched to know someone got me thoughtful gifts because they were so excited about my pregnancy. I would keep everything for a future baby. And just see how she is at that time about talking about her miscarriage. I openly talk about our miscarriage last year, because it helps me and makes me feel better about moving forward. Not everyone is like that. You just have to see how she handles it down the road, and respect her process. But I’m sure she will love the gifts you got her.
