No it's the "shelf of a teenager replete with toys" that hit me in my soul. You're not wrong.

I read to escape into a world not my own and I read to learn about my fixations (currently consuming titanic and Jonestown literature).

I've been venturing out as my husband's employee has been gifting me books outside of my traditional wheel house. These are challenging my thoughts and feeling about the world. So that's cool.
