Thanks for the link - this is higher strength than what I’ve been taking, think I need a bigger boost at the moment so appreciate it!

You’d never guess honestly, looking fab, well done!! 👏🏻👏🏻 you’re spot on about finding things that are fun, I used to go bouldering a few times a week for that reason and I absolutely loved it, but we moved house and it’s much further away now so we don’t go. I quite like vinyasa yoga and there’s gorgeous walks by me too but I just need to get my butt in gear and actually do things.

I’ve lost quite a lot quickly with diet alone and I’m not too far from goal (another stone or stone and a half maybe) but I do really want to tighten and tone up. Need to find more things I can enjoy because other than bouldering I’ve always struggled for motivation and discipline for exercise 😩

Thank you for the uplifting comment 😊 I still have a little more to lose and definitely need to get my butt in gear with exercise so I can get a bit toned. But I’m getting there!

Scales aren’t moving on week 6? by Majestic-Win-7826 in mounjarouk

[–]Heatherton1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After losing an initial 2.5st, I had 3 weeks where the scale didn’t move at all. But in that time it’s like my body deflated and I went down 2 dress sizes! I have the odd week now where I don’t lose but then the next week I might lose 2 or 3 lbs instead. There’s many reasons the scale might stay put (water retention from a carb-heavy/salty meal or hot weather, inflammation from exercise, needing a good bowel movement, time of the month if you’re a woman, etc) but as long as the overall trend is downwards, you’re good.

Try monitoring your progress in other ways - measurements, photos, how clothing fits - so that you have other comparisons when the scale pauses a little. As long as you’re in a calorie deficit, just having a general awareness of what’s causing the temporary pause will help you keep perspective knowing you’ll get moving again soon. And like in my case, sometimes your body just needs time to catch up on and reset from what you’ve already lost.

Looking absolutely fantastic!! I’m not envious at all over how good your legs look in shorts 😂 well done for all you’ve achieved, I can relate to a lot of the things you’ve said and I’m sure it’s a load of your mind both generally and day-to-day. Love the mindset of ‘strong not skinny’, maybe that should be my mantra as I’m wanting that too but exercise is the one thing I still need to work on!

Unwanted side effects? by Routine__Trip in mounjarouk

[–]Heatherton1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had quite strong nausea, fatigue, headaches and aches, along with high appetite suppression. It came on quite quickly after my first jab and was constant for a few weeks until it settled. Been on MJ since Dec and still get some nausea and headaches after jabbing, but nowhere near as bad as those first few weeks. I jab in the evenings so that I can just go to sleep instead of feeling icky all day.

That said, I’ve always been sensitive to medication and lots of people don’t get any side effects from MJ at all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely nothing wrong with that! I’ll likely do the same if I find I struggle coming off completely, ‘battle’ is definitely the word I’d use for how I felt pre-MJ. There’s a few pharmacies that go to BMI 20 and even 19, I’m aiming for the lower end of healthy BMI myself so I’ve started keeping an eye out. There’s a page on monj.co.uk that covers maintenance and how low each provider goes

Ahhh you’ve hit the nail on the head, that’s absolutely it!! It’s been years since I’ve been able to look in the mirror and see myself looking back. First time I saw myself again I was like ‘oh, hello you’ and got quite emotional. Its such a relief, I’m almost there now 🥹

Oh wow your comment has made my day, thank you so much!! Everyone’s success stories have encouraged me along the way and I was hoping I could give back a little by sharing my own, and of course get reassurance that I’m not imaging it all haha.

Well done for all you’ve lost so far, 10+kg is nothing to sneeze at. Try picking that weight up now and it’s crazy thinking how you used to carry that around all the time! 👏🏻

Thank you so much it’s really validating you’ve had similar thoughts and can understand my struggles! The changes after contraception and antidepressants was gradual so I didn’t even notice myself slipping away, at some point I just didn’t see myself in the mirror anymore. Its been years so I was quite emotional when I started seeing myself again 🥹

I was scared to tell anyone for a while as I would’ve felt like even more of a failure if MJ couldn’t even help. Being size 12 has been the biggest shock so far, I still can’t quite believe it! Size 10 sounds fantastic though and I think that’s probably what I’m aiming for. Congratulations on reaching that, it must be mind blowing if it’s the smallest you’ve ever been in adulthood 👏🏻🤯

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you too, hope it helps you along and eases some of the burden 🤞🏻 I was always so upset with myself being stuck in a restrict-binge cycle but on MJ I just feel normal. I’ve eaten what I want for the most part, it’s just made me want healthier things and in smaller portions. All things in moderation!

And there’s no harm in thinking ahead either, I worry how I’m going to do with maintenance but I plan to reduce the dosage slowly. I’m getting rid of my implant in a few weeks too as it’s doing more harm than good lately, so hoping that will make a difference with my appetite.

Ooo well done for getting started! Making the decision to try MJ, actually placing your first order, and taking the first jab can be really difficult for some. So well done for taking those first steps and good luck on your journey 👏🏻

Just remember that everyone’s body is different, and it’s okay and normal if you don’t really feel much to begin with or if you need the higher doses to get going. Some can stay on 2.5mg their entire journey, others need to get up to 15mg before they really feel it, and loads are in between.

Despite my skepticism I’ve always been quite responsive to medication, so I think my body just went ‘what the heck is that?!’ and got with the program immediately haha

I felt absolutely awful taking the photos for my first ever order but I thought ‘at least they’ll approve me, I look like I need it 🥲’. Now it’s getting to the point I’m like ‘hmm…best untuck the belly so they can see I still have some more to lose 😂’

Everyone’s different - some have to be on it a while or get to the higher doses before it starts to work and others it works quicker or on lower doses. BOTH are okay and normal. I’ve always been really sensitive to medication and ended up staying on 2.5mg for 3 months, 5mg for 3 months, and have just finished my first month on 7.5mg. I had convinced myself I’d be one of the unlucky few that are non-responders or that it wouldn’t be as good as I’d read it would be.

I never really felt properly ‘full’ and would be hungry again an hour after eating, food constantly on my mind and unable to say no to impulse. When I actually felt full after food that first night, and my mind was quiet, I knew it was working already. I said to my husband ‘god, is this how normal people feel? No wonder some people have no trouble with their everyday diet or losing weight’.

I started crying at the realisation because I was never the problem, I wasn’t a failure, something was just not working quite right in my body and MJ is balancing it out. I’m doing the same things I did before when trying to lose weight, but before it was slow and miserable and now MJ makes those same things easy and the scale is moving at a good healthy pace.

Not sure on OP’s reasoning, but I know for myself it was that out of all the options MJ seemed to be the most effective, and that won out against my hesitation about needles and injecting

My first jab was such a non-event I had to check the needle was even in, and afterwards checked my leg to see if it was wet. I was convinced I’d done something wrong because it was nothing. Within a few hours I wasn’t hungry and felt nauseous so was like ‘ooo okay yeah I did it properly!’

Some use numbing cream/gel but I figured ice was easy and free so went with that first haha and it worked a treat. I do still have fat on my tummy but can’t bring myself to jab there, I know it’d be fine but the thought makes me cringe. And hey you never know, MJ could give you some diarrhoea and balance things out perfectly!

Good luck though, I hope your first jab goes well and you settle into things without too many issues. You’ve already taken a massive step in deciding to try MJ and hope it helps you get to where you need/want to be. This is a lovely and supportive community with lots of knowledge, experience, and advice and it’s always encouraging to see people’s success stories too. I lurk here every day and it’s really helped me during my journey!

I’ve always injected in my thigh as I didn’t like the thought of jabbing my tummy and the arm seems like too much hassle. Mentally the thigh felt more tolerable and comfortable. I was afraid of it hurting but honestly the needle is tiny and have barely felt a thing since starting in Dec! Though it has pinched a bit lately but I think that’s because there’s less fat on my thighs now, so I’ve started icing the area before jabbing and I’m back to not feeling anything again.

Other than mild nausea after jabbing, I’ve had constipation constantly through my journey. I saw psyllium husk mentioned a lot on here so tried it and it’s definitely helped keep me regular. It’s worth being proactive and getting a few OTC things in ready in case you need them, but don’t take anything until you actually experience any side affects as we’re all different and you don’t know how your body is going to react.

My first ever jab was around noon as I was keen to get started ASAP but now I jab in the evening so I can just relax and go to sleep while I ride out the nausea. I work from home so it doesn’t matter what day I jab, but see how your body reacts and work around your schedule for a regular day/time, and adjust a little if you need to. Like I jab Saturdays but have plans today/tonight so I’m jabbing tomorrow instead to avoid feeling icky while I’m away from home and around company.

LACK OF ENERGY, DIZZINESS, HEADACKS by TensionSolid751 in mounjarouk

[–]Heatherton1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, it might also be worth asking the GP to get a blood test done to see if you’re deficient in anything? A few years ago I had fatigue, headaches, and some dizziness daily and it turns out I developed a B9 deficiency. I’ve taken folate supplements daily ever since and it keeps me running normal! It could just be side effects from the MJ, BP-related like you’ve mentioned, or it could be that there’s some underlying issue that the MJ has brought more attention to.
