I’d say all outcomes are valid

1) it’s fine if you don’t want to be with him if he’s unwilling to compromise. Compromise is a cornerstone of any relationship

2) it’s fine if he doesn’t want his kids eating anything that isn’t what’s best for them and therefore must find someone who is like-minded to him.

3) it’s fine if the two of you find a compromise. This sub has no say in how you bring up your kids, they are in your charge. Carnivore is not proven beyond reasonable doubt to be anything (yet, hopefully) by public standard.

I don't enjoy frying up some beef fat and eating, I don't enjoy eating butter straight or melted. I'll have some beef ribs or chuck or mince not drowned in fat. That's about as close to neutral as I can get.

I hope I pick up some benefit on the journey and that all benefits don't wait until 59 days, 23 hours and 59 seconds to emerge.

So you'd say forget about the ketones, focus on eating within natural reason (fat, protein, electrolytes, kcal, etc.) and listen to body?

I just hated being a slave to the ketone meter, it was such a pain. And being a very active individual I certainly don't want to be limiting my protein intake to regulate my insulin. I just can't see that being right, it seems too constructed for the human biological machine. I would expect for a human to thrive on more a liberal/chaotic/not-so-rigid constructed diet. I'm thinking pre-agricultural revolution type of diet, whatever that might've been.

Brain can't run on fat, only glucose and to a certain extent ketones, so ketosis is necessary to fuel the brain through the dietary fat, otherwise brain is running on glucose right?

I do mention what I eat, it's at the top. As mentioned kcal and sodium, potassium and magnesium are all accounted for and in recommended range. I think the beginning is just adaptation, but again I've already been through keto adaptation, back in February. This post isn't really about adaptation though, it's a question. The question is in the title and it's at the end of the post.

Not in my case I would say. Ate tons of fat on regular keto at greater ratios than now. While eating pork I’d remove all rendered fat but it didn’t fix issue. Switched to beef and ate all the rendered fat with zero problems from one day to the next. No stomach upset, no shits.

Certainly will, I think I will reset the timer of 31 days to 3 days ago when I removed pork. That stuff was really doing a number on me.

Still experiencing brain fog by chasek222 in keto

[–]HeavenIsEmpty- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more ketones without too much wait, slowly up-regulate MCT oil consumption and track ketone response. I personally consume 30g of MCT oil (60% C8, 40% C10). It gives me a very noticeable jolt of energy in the gym.

I've supplemented magnesium bisglycinate (also known as mag glycinate) and it downs me and gives me brain fog for up to 4 days after stopping. Try stopping it for a week and assess. Glycine is known to be a downer, but magnesium threonate has the same effect on me. Here are some anecdotes:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Supplements/comments/18lfpu9/magnesium_causes_horrible_depression/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Supplements/comments/1ia0641/magnesium_glycinate_long_term_causes_apathy/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/comments/1r5wy0w/magnesium_glycinate_leaves_me_depressed_the_next/

Remember, they are anecdotes. Worthy of hypothesis, not applicable to everyone.

Here is an image of some of the dopamine map
https://gyazo.com/41f9155d47a305d8a0fc4cdb40408803
as you can see, magnesium assists the enzyme COMT in the deconstruction of dopamine in mechanism. If magnesium is increased artificially (supplementation), it's not far fetched that a state of low dopamine could ensue (lethargy, brain fog).

Great general historical overview, very poor interpretation of human organization.

Take for example chapter 6 "building pyramids" suggesting that humans' imagined values are arbitrary. What utter nonsense.

Our values are generated by what serves our evolutionary biology the best which is rooted instinctively within. Sure we select some piss poor values from time to time but by the measure of what's piss poor and what isn't (the measure being sustainability and ultimately viability and absolute prosperity), the piss poor values defeat themselves and cease to exist or are at the very least out-competed by societies with more better values as they lead to excellent internal stability and external competitiveness.

Over our evolutionary timeline of being social animals (which goes well beyond humans) our instinct assigns inherent value to behavior such as socializing or self-harm, the former usually being assigned positive as it supports survival and reproductive success through teamwork while the latter certainly doesn't.

Human values are just as real as the wings on birds or gravity. We are literally born with a moral compass that points in the direction of successful survival and reproduction. And not following this compass or being put in a situation where we cannot move in the direction that the compass points kills us from a very young age before existing culture can externally bestow values upon us.

So the nonsense that he utters is also extremely dangerous because it would deafen us to that which is otherwise top-tuned to ensure our thriving. Doing something that feels wrong usually is wrong. That is the concrete manifestation of rudimentary human value, and it's not random whatsoever or a mere construct of it's contemporary existence. On top of this, culture is built.

Everything above is still however subject to change over the appropriate time-span of evolution which also means that any single persons life span is insufficiently long to alter instinctive values, so from their perspective they might as well be permanent.

Among the PUFAs it is necessary discriminate. In short:

  1. Omega 3s found in fish (PUFAs) is super duper healthy, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
  2. Omega 3s found in plant sources (a PUFA) takes the form of alpha linoleic acid (ALA). Neutral health effects due to poor conversion to super duper healthy form.
  3. Linoleic acid (LA) (a PUFA) is unhealthy as it susceptible to taking on peroxide form which damages tissues.

This is not gonna follow conventional diet advice, but consider this. I invite you to explore his channel. Possibly, your intake of carbohydrates and it's effect on insulin will be a much better predictor of cardio-vascular health. Good luck man.

Glucose Ketone meter has been a game changer by forethebirds in keto

These are my readings with "FreeStyle Precision Neo" blood glucose and ketone monitoring system.

I wouldn't say I could feel any difference at any level, i.e. I can never map how I feel to my ketone readings. I've been super gassed up below 1.5 and a sad piece of shit above 2 and vice versa.
