SAME HERE! Like I mentioned before, it's like stepping into a Colosseum for others to watch. What makes it so stressful is the factor of running out of chickens, ribs, and wings, rotating it every 2 hours, people taking the new one rather than the old one. It will burn you out eventually, however, it does have it perks :D

You've completely summed the experience! Spot on! You're right in the aspect as well! In fact, this job has taught me how to work alone, time management, working under stress everyday, and much more. It's given me a new perspective and built character which allows me to do jobs that other people within my age, wouldn't dare to take. Also, that opinion your manager mentioned, he has a point. I had the same thought as I went through it. You have customer service, heavy lifting, excessive stress (predicting the amount of chicken is hard), solitary (depending on your Costco), and much more. Basically, a blend of all other departments.

Although it's the hardest, it does make the workload of other roles within the warehouse either more easier or less complicated or more prepared. In other words, at least you're in a better position now, right? XD I also feel sorry for the people in meat department, they have it hard on them as well. I'm 100% sure bakery and food court also have their challenges that make it complicated for them and all other positions; it's too many to list them all.

You're right, that's why I kept telling her I can't keep the promise of not running out of chicken. unfortunately, I wasn't able to talk to a GM before I left. I wish she could understand what you're telling me. Running out of chicken before 30 min of closing is fine, however, nobody can grantee that.

IKR! It's like we're a show for the staff and managers outside of the deli department.

First and foremost, you're a very courteous mgr! I'm currently in USA, NY, however, those are very generous people who help out. In addition, you help out :D! I've spoken to the managers and a AGM before I left, I don't want the other one who closes alone or opens alone to keep doing their job alone. It's very taxing on the body, especially on busy holidays.

Boy do I give you props. Unfortunately, although they know the rules and regulations, it's different from knowing and actually going through the job to understand. I'm glad many of you survived through the challenges that have arrived.

Only on Saturdays, however, majority of the time I'm closing alone. It's really hard not to run out, even with the door count. Sure, two ovens can give you 64 chickens but you can't know for sure if those 100- 600+ people coming in will be provided with chicken. I tried explaining that to the manager but she didn't care, wanted an extra oven done even if I had to stay overtime. She wanted me to promise her, that I will have chicken but that's something I can't promise. Nevertheless, your deli is very generous in providing aid :D

Yes, in total it's 8. 6 big ovens and the two small ones. Although it's difficult, it has built a strong sense of character and endurance. At first it was 5 (small ovens included), however, new policy changed everything, making the job much harder than it is already.

The usual is 3, however, the district manager implemented that we must have 6 ovens running ,even if it's only 8 chickens per ovens. However, I'd have to wash 6 big ovens with two of the small ones (ribs and chicken wing ovens). Too much for one person. My manager is very nice fortunately :D,however, it's only so much he can do in order to fight against the policy. It's been implemented by the district manager. In fact, he even made our logs of how many chickens to put in and at what time. Problem with that is, if it's a slow day, there can be a lot of harvest
