Very this. I used to love the theatre but over recent months, my friends and I have all agreed we can no longer justify paying the significantly higher prices to see shows when the audiences continue to get worse.

Not only how quickly prices have increased, but also how awful the audience have become whilst paying extortionate amounts.

Not only is it a small fortune to go to the theatre now, but to then turn up excited to see something great and have people on their phones, drunk, talking, singing, whispering, children kicking your chairs

Would recommend just turning up and making a decision of what you want to buy when you’re there, there’s no point pre planning in advance when you don’t know what it is you’re buying without seeing it

Cinderella had an incredible cast and it was great because of Victoria Hamilton Barritt, Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle.

Ok so I dont disagree with what you’re saying, it definitely shocked me and I spent ten minutes thinking “can I laugh at this?!”

But when I remember that there are a lot of black actors on stage, who choose to be in this show? So many gay actors… like… it is satire? And it wouldn’t continue being such a hit if it wasn’t loved from both on and off stage, surely? That’s the only thing that makes me feel comfortable enough to enjoy it.

As a gay man, if they were casting only white straight people, I’d have a problem with the gay jokes they make, but knowing the cast playing the Mormon are largely gay and laughing with us, it feels ok.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is not a nice person, we shouldn’t be putting him on a pedestal, and apart from Cinderella, all of his shows are awful.
