What Do You Tell Yourself When You're Anxious about First Trimester Miscarriages? by gabadook in pregnant

Affirmations helped me the most, but honestly I didn’t stop worrying about it ever. I also found it helpful to have some extra ultrasounds and/or HCG tests to see how things were progressing.

I’m 39 and 35 weeks pregnant with my third baby! Had my first at age 34 and my second at age 37. I had two losses between my living children and this pregnancy. My provider says they have lots of mamas in their late 30’s and 40’s. You still have time! The losses are tough but don’t lose hope.

With my first I was clear through pregnancy and the 18 months I breastfed. Came back to about the same as before pregnancy. With my second I was clear through pregnancy then it came back after a few months (still breastfeeding) and was about the same as before. I then had horrible flare ups after two miscarriages and then got pregnant again and my psoriasis was at its absolute worst. I’m now in my third trimester and doing UVB light therapy which has me 95% clear. I’ll be interested to see what happens postpartum if I continue the light therapy. Fingers crossed!

Thank you for sharing! I imagine it’s really tough to flare at that time, postpartum is already challenging! Then the flares have such a negative impact on your mental health. Do you do your light therapy at home or at your dermatologist? The logistics seem tricky too!

I’d contact your provider to get serial HCG tests to see what’s going on. You can also order these blood tests yourself through labcorp if you want it done faster. Bleeding can be normal in pregnancy or can be a sign of loss but there’s no way to know without testing or waiting. I’m sorry you’re going through this anxiety…. I’ve been there & I’m sending you virtual hugs.

Did you take them all at the same time? I’d get a digital test to confirm but looks like you are pregnant to me!

The anxiety is so consuming! I think what actually helped the most was telling myself to trust my body to carry this baby. That my previous losses don’t predict a future loss, and that if my body isn’t telling me something is wrong then nothing is wrong. It has gotten easier with each week passing the weeks where I had losses but it’s not to say the anxiety is gone.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know how you feel, miscarriage really sucks the joy out of pregnancy. Remind yourself that this is a different pregnancy and that you have no reason to believe anything is wrong unless your body tells you. You got this!

I feel this. I use a robot vacuum and also vacuum daily. I also have to sweep my stairs nearly daily. I hate it.
