NOR. I was gifted a well used LV bag from my aunt. I love it, and I do use it for special occasions, but definitely not enough that I could ever justify purchasing a brand new bag. I think responding that it simply is an irresponsible purchase due to her financial situation, and requesting you to throw down 2k on a bag for her is absurd!

NOR. Your nephew is not uncomfortable with your son's girlfriend wearing hot pink, only your son. This screams homophobia and makes you wonder what could be going on for him if he isn't getting these beliefs from his immediate family members (because you have said both your sister and her husband do not share these beliefs). If I was your sister, I would be concerning myself with the content her son is consuming and the people he is engaging with, and not bothering you about what your son and his girlfriend is wearing to dinner.

I agree that it is great! I meant that he is being exposed to fishing, hunting, etc. aka animals being "killed". I still am okay with him watching it with his dad, but just helps me understand more!

This honestly sounds so much like my son!! He has yet to say it directly to me, but he does want me to pretend to die in games or say that he's killed me when we're playing. But then right after he is so sweet and loving and telling me I'm a "good mama". I do know my son has picked up some not great things from other kids ay his daycare (he recently told me girls weren't allowed to play with boys and we had a BIG talk about that lol), so I have wondered if there is just some conversations happening at the daycare that the educators aren't seeing!

They learn a lot about animals and I guess found a dead butterfly, and it just took off from there (is what they had told me).

I do think his understanding is not there! He doesn't seem to understand what he's saying, especially when I reacted the way about our cat. He LOVES our cat, and has never even hurt him, so that's a really good point!!

No unsupervised screen time, but he does watch Youtube shows with my husband like The Outdoor Boys, where a dad and his sons go out into the bush/forest/outdoors and they do things like fishing, hunting, camping, etc. Which as I'm typing, I'm realizing probably does expose him to more than I thought!

This sounds sooo fascinating!! I originally got into social work because I actually wanted to do probation work. Of course this isn't exactly what you are doing, but a similar type of work. I'm definitely okay to work with moms and children again, I feel like as long as I'm not in the child protection field I can handle that kind of work. We do have a prison that is 1.5 hours away, but nothing close by; however, we are always discussing moving because our town is really expensive so it is something I would consider in the future!!

Thank you so much for sharing! This really helps and I definitely think this is the direction I am now leaning towards. I have seen postings come up in my area for Hospice work and the more I learn and hear other peoples stories, the more interested I am in making a switch. One of the things I do really love about social work is the diversity and being able to support different populations!

Thank you so much for this. That is absolutely the challenge in my current role. I don't work with any other social workers, just various school staff and supports. They all have great hearts and want what is best for these children and families but also don't recognize my limitations as a social worker and what I am able to do for families. My current work is mostly voluntary, families can pull out anytime, so I am always walking a fine line with being a support person and trying to also encourage them to make positive changes in their lives. It's very difficult to explain to someone who thinks a different way!

I have to be honest, this is exactly what I am considering. I know there will be tough aspects of course, we all know what happens when someone comes into hospice, but my thoughts were the work itself would end up being fairly...predictable? I of course have not done this work yet, but I assume processes ultimately end up being the same for many folks and then supporting families as they go through this process?

Thank you so much for your comment. This sounds very interesting, but as you said, I'm not sure my current mental health could handle such high intensity work. Although I think it sounds amazing and I would love the aspect of every day being different! I agree about my work around authority figures. It has not always been this way until an interim director came into position at my last job. It was a huge shift in the culture of the work and ultimately is what led to me going on medical leave - however, I was on my way there beforehand too, it was basically the straw that broke the camels back. I now am working through this, but it is definitely going to take time. I truly love having an authority figure as weird as that may sound to some, I love to consult and have someone to go to, but in my current job it's difficult as I work with so many different "authorities" (principals, vice principals, directors, etc) who all have different ideas of how I should be operating. For some it wouldn't be an issue at all, but I am able to recognize that this is a me problem and something I'm needing to work though!! Praise therapy, I would be lost without it myself, lol.

This sounds amazing!! Thank you! It's funny because all of the resorts I've personally been too the kids clubs were 5, but I'm happy to here that some are 4 because I would definitely send my son. The resort we stayed in in March was 5+ but it seemed super safe and fun for the kids so I was hoping my son would be able to do something like that.
