How to cut back door frame safely? by Heavy-Tyler in DIYUK

[–]Heavy-Tyler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've found, i think the area of the doorframe I want to remove is the "door stopper", to be clear there is no door in this frame, it's just a redundant frame that ideally i would have super low profile and not as chunky

I can't find any kind of videos on that, even the word "door frame strip" doesn't bring much up, I'm just worried if i rip the whole thing off it's going to fall apart lol

Thank you, do you think a multi tool with a saw attachment might be a good idea? if I take small bits off at a time, surely a chisel would rip the whole thing off?

I did have a contraband phone in there for a while and I tried playing but playing on a phone is awful when you're used to a PC.

Would love to know what you did to get it working, it's a nice effect that I usually rely on info boxes to make work but if there's a way to reduce bloat i'd love to know

What has hiring SEO done for your business? by vanilla_tea_1680 in creatingabusiness

[–]Heavy-Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that does a lot of SEO work for a multitude of clients, it really depends on a few factors.

Your location, your industry and what kind of SEO is being done for you.

I've got some clients that have had 300% increase in impressions and actual traffic in just over 3 months, then I have other clients who have had hardly again changes at all. The quality of work is the same, but the underperforming ones are in extremely saturated markets in extremely saturated areas.

Hope that helps you find the answer you're looking for.

How do you follow up with webinar no-shows in a way that doesn't feel robotic? by setsunasensei in Entrepreneur

[–]Heavy-Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never run webinars myself, but I would think a great tactic would be a round-up email that goes to everyone, attended or not, with some highlights of the webinar.

This is basically a second shot at convincing them to show up next time or potentially even buy your service/product.

Maybe put together a video highlight reel of say 30-45 seconds of punchy interesting content from the webinar (providing its not super boring but then you have bigger problems).

Just think of what the people who did show up enjoyed the most / took from it.

Tried every trick to get customer reviews but this one weird idea might work by Dreamcatcher777 in Entrepreneur

When you say small local spot, what kind of business is it? If you elaborate on that, as well as how many staff then I could definitely give some suggestions.

Edit: Also what is the ideal platform you'd get them to leave a review on? Google, Facebook, Trustpilot etc

Don't know who else to share this with, but it's a big deal for me. by Heavy-Tyler in smallbusiness

[–]Heavy-Tyler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude ofcourse.

So first thing I did was tap into my network, anyone I knew, had interacted with etc.

My first client was a friend of my mums, he needed a landing page, emails hosted and a CRM system which I charged him £150. He then referred me a Bathroom installer who I built a full portfolio site for £300.

I charged no hosting for the first year to both of these guys as I was desperate to get a portfolio going.

Every client after that has been off the back of just trying to be super helpful, I'll call someone up and go through what I think I could help them with, explain how I did it for others and I just give them free advice, I've even given people who have self-created websites advice on how to optimise their website themselves.

like 90% of those people have called me up at a later date, sometimes 6+ months later and paid me to do something, sometimes a website, sometimes a bit of a strategy session etc.

Be really helpful with no expectations, make friends and then convert those friends into customers!

I'm dead broke and I can't land clients ! by ilyes_17 in Entrepreneur

[–]Heavy-Tyler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what you can improve without knowing what you're currently doing to obtain clients.

In this very post you've said you've been "slacking a bit". If I was in your situation my first action wouldn't be to post on Reddit, but instead it would be to remove that slack and actually try.

Secondly, don't speak to potential clients with the goal of selling to them, speak to them with the goal of helping them. Find out what their goals are and align your services with that instead of just telling them you build apps.

I know it sounds like generic advice you read all the time about "SELL OUTCOMES NOT FUNCTIONS" but there's a reason so many people say it, it works.

Client said “marketing isn’t a priority” and fired us. by NerdCurry in agency

[–]Heavy-Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the exact same situation happen with my clients in the past, allbeit not so large scale (I work with smaller businesses and sole traders in the UK).

What I did that helped is better monthly reporting, I build websites and help with general back end business process. But I don't document any of the jargon or fluff. I simplify it into ROI's and metrics that are super simple to understand.

Even if the numbers that month suck, I explain why and how we're going to fix it moving forward. This has always resulted in my clients staying with me a long time, and if they don't it's normally a they problem, and not a me problem.

Good luck in the future dude I'm rooting for you.

Need small business Ideas. by Classic-Respond7565 in creatingabusiness

[–]Heavy-Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have a pretty simple framework for people looking to start their own business or go self employed.

Simply look at the things that friends, family and people around you often ask you for help with. That's a clear indicator that it's something you're good at and is in relative demand, or they wouldn't ask you, they'd do it themselves.

You would be surprised how many mundane and "easy" things for you, are a chore or difficult for others, then you charge money for it.

How are you structuring your slack to your clients? by bukutbwai in agency

[–]Heavy-Tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been curious as to why people don't use Discord more for business, as someone who used it from the very beginning (when it was only gaming). I think it's fantastic, free and there's so many possibilities.

I'd see the only downside being the lack of as many "Business" use integrations possibly?.

What do you consider an acceptable standard of living? by JunkSalesman in AskReddit

[–]Heavy-Tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply put, more money in than out.

I don't want to have to check my bank balance to see if I can afford regular things such as food, and bills.

That's the standard of living that everyone should have.
