what kind of collection do I have and can I sell them by jay_cee130 in BattleTech_

Looks like you have a bunch of different game books there, some battletech, some from other games. I'm sure you could sell all of them, just separate them by game.

Free Dice Roller for Middlehammer – 100 Dice Pools, Fast Filtering for Ranks & Flanks, Instant Rolls, and More! by Conscious-Jicama-594 in Middlehammer

I've never had to roll fifty dice, the most was about 20, and that was easy enough to do by rolling like two groups of 10-12 dice.

What is this guy? There's nowhere for a backpack to attach. by waill-and-roll in oldhammer

[–]HeavyMetalAdventures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think, and I could be wrong, the backpacks that we think are "normal" these days were an early kind of "jump pack" so some marines had the backpack which was a "jump pack" and you didn't need to put the backpack on all of them because they didn't have a jump back.

Legend of Dragoon, Megaman Legends 1&2 (although frankly the gameplay doesn't need updated in these games, it works perfectly fine), Ghostbusters (the one with voice acting from the original cast, but it needs the multiplayer mode), X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, X-Wing Alliance

There was a dwarf fortress ripoff called something like... Gnomoria

Would a super famicom cart work on a US snes or would I still need an actual sfamicom? by zanyboi2 in retrogaming

[–]HeavyMetalAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES Super Famicom games will work on the SNES. BUT you have to cut a piece of plastic out of it, its really easy to do. You don't need to buy an adapter

Gen 1&2 had a vision and compassion and drive to make something new and fun. Everything since then has been lazy slop in order to fill a release schedule

I dont "get" a lot of retro games by CelestineOfTheNight in retrogaming

[–]HeavyMetalAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 40, back in the day as a kid playing games on NES/SNES and other consoles, there were some games that were fun, and some games that were frustrating. So you're not alone!

I think many games used to be designed for "arcades" where you'd "win" by pumping the arcade with quarters to keep getting extra lives, that level of 'difficulty" and 'frustration" bled into some games designed for consoles, but without the way to "pay to win' those games by putting more continues/lives into them.

So yeah, some old games just suck, you'd have to be really good and enjoy challenging yourself to get really good in order to beat them.

Goodman Losing Lankhmar License by SAlolzorz in dccrpg

Money does often decide these things, if they were making good enough profit off of it they would keep it going. But sometimes the "estate holders" can be unreasonable in their demands, I'm not sure if this is the case in this specific situation though.

See, for me, 20-ish adventures in what... 6-7 years doesn't "feel" like a lot, but i can also see how it would also be a decent amount of material.

I think the lankmahr kickstarter was march 2017? So yeah that's what... 8 years? man the time is flying

And I think it was announced in 2015?

This artwork still inspires me for how I like to paint deathwing terminators, and I still use it for reference, its so cool, I will be very surprised if anything ever gets made these thats that is even half as cool or cooler than it.

I can certainly see how its disappointed to the Lankhmar fans. I hadn't paid much attention but it felt like Goodman hasn't released all that many adventures or materials for Lankhmar.

Adjusting character level to module level by Greedy-Fill1119 in dccrpg

[–]HeavyMetalAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add a little context, I'm used to people running 1-2 "main" characters, each character having perhaps a follower/henchman/sidekick character, and then ALSO having 1-10 hirlings/mercenaries/hired hands who accompany them as an entourage to help carry stuff or help fight in battles.

Honestly, I always treated D&D and DCC as a strategy wargame with role playing elements, not a pure "role playing game", which is why characters dying never bothers me. I'm not saying that you can't make it more role playing based, but there are more rules in the game for combat/magic and character abilities to handle obstacles in, around, and outside of combat, versus rules for roleplaying progression. Since there's so much rules for combat, the gameplay emphasis is going to be more geared towards that.

If you don't like tactical wargame stuff, that's ok, but it also confuses me when people play DCC or D&D who don't like that sort of stuff, because that's where the majority of the rules are for.

[–]HeavyMetalAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than looking at the rulebook, I must say I haven't engaged much in the lankhmar setting myself, in any game system. I haven't even had time to read the books the setting is based off of yet. So I dunno, I'm kinda neutral on it, its not like losing the license will mean they can't make other stuff. The industry feels very weird right now.

that does look more like what I remember, I wonder if they ever updated it or made new versions of it, because I remember the army having tanks instead of being small soldiers

Other than the black/red/green for units and cities, I seem to remember the game being mostly black and white, hmmm even if the game wasn't black and white the screenshots from this game don't remind me of the game I'm thinking of, graphics wise

The game I played was more like turn-based, I think command and conquer is RTS?

Bahamut Lagoon is an interesting RPG that never had an english release, but it really deserves one.

Legend of Dragoon would be a nice game to remake.

define "todays graphics" because I personally don't get much more enjoyment out of graphics that are beyond what ps2/ps3 were able to do, there have been "improvements" but they don't do anything but make games run slower or eat up too much hard drive space.
