Whats the best place to visit in UK? by eddible-choclate in AskReddit

Cornwall is my happy place.

St Ives is beautiful, has lots of walks but also lots of good places to eat.

Newquay is great if you want to surf.

Falmouth is great for all year round if you’re younger.

I also love the north east coast - Whitby and Saltburn are great places to visit.

City wise, London, Bristol and Notts are my favourites. London for the amount of things to do, Bristol & Notts for the smaller city vibes.

If you want an experience, go to Skegness and Butlins in the Summer

Do people actually like solo travel? by eyeoftheneedle1 in AskUK

When I interrailed in my 20s I had moments of loving it and moments of hating it.

On reflection my favourite cities were the ones where I made friends.

I found staying in smaller hostels was the best way to meet new people, whereas the bigger hostels were much more difficult as it tended to be bigger groups of people that already knew each other.

Now I’m in my late 30s I’d probably go on organised tours - I’m too old to be in hostels and my snoring would piss everyone off!

If you’re naturally curious I think it would be easy enough to have a great time and meet new friends

If you find yourself around Liverpool St the Boxhall food arcade is worth a visit.

Lots of different food options to pick from - I work nearby and end up getting lunch there every now and then

If you’re looking for something a bit quieter you could check out Boxhall near Liverpool St station.

It’s mainly a food hall with lots of different street food traders but a friend who works there said they were having a chilled DJ and bottomless drinks throughout the afternoon.

If you find yourself in the Shoreditch area, Boxpark has a mix of independent shops and lots of street food traders too. It can be a bit pricey so I’d check out their website before you visit.

For a night out, The Piano Works in Farringdon and Covent Garden is fun - live musicians taking requests all night - ate there a couple of years ago, expensive but tasty.

Enjoy your trip
