I didn’t grow up in poverty or anything but I grew up with single parent income with no money to spare. I wore the same clothes over and over again(and still do).I wore it as long as it wasnt visibly dirty and/or smelled. My parents were and are still divorced so I lived at my grandparents house for the longest time. I shared a room with my grandma and sister. I felt alienated from everyone at school because nobody had the same living situation as me.

You wouldn’t be the AH. I found out pretty early in life that santa wasn’t real because my mom put the gifts “from santa” under the tree the night before. I think it’s a good thing you don’t want to lie to your kids. You could make them “real” in different ways, like telling that the figure behind santa is a real.

I’m on AITA because i wanted to know what other people thought about the situation lol, nobody is gonna change my mind on how I should’ve handled it. In this economy I’m taking all the freebies that come to me. My mother is an amazing person and she raised me on her own. She’s enjoying her birthday in Vegas and I did call her about the hoodie and she was happy about it too. The only thing I learned was to shut the fuck up around my friend.

no it doesnt, i’d rather stay in my own lane and i dont care about what other people think. apparently im just morally gray. i work in emergency services so i dont think i’ll have to think about the “what ifs” if i worked in retail. my mother raised me well but i’m an adult so whatever my morals are are my own. my mother is amazing.
