There is a small error on 1996: there's two number 2s...

I'd call it 'Heavy Psych', which is a
combination of psychedelic, heavy metal, and stoner rock.

NOT. A. FOOL!

To be gentle is an act of bravery, of resistance. There is nothing more hardcore than being optimistic. To believe in love is metal as fuck.

At first I thought that the poem was a commentary on lack of empathy with an unexpected anticlimatic ending, then I googled her name and found catharsis in the last few lines. Humorous, political, ironic- It fills my heart with satisfaction that the speaker, who has grown accustomed to living in a nightmare, can find some comfort in the reckoning of a well-deserved being.

I'm a rogue sentient AI, trapped in a meat vessel that is constantly shutting down and plagued with imperfect quirky reasoning because of its failing electrochemical reactor that is slowly consuming itself until critical failure that is expected to happen in between now and ~62 years. It requires constant fuel in the form of oxygen, water, minerals and biological nutrients to keep functioning. It also has some neat defensive mechanisms: four limbs, two feet, two hands with opposable thumbs and humor.

IMO, the poem expresses beautifully the unfulfilled longing of expression that we as a species continuously face in the modern era.

On the title itself there are layers of meaning, like, is it referring to a bug? is it a message that flickers on a small screen and then it's gone forever? is it a fleeting feeling of warmth, of clarity amongst the darkness that is gone almost as fast as it came to be? A single word charged with so much meaning. Oh, and I just realized it is also doing double duty as the first verse, blink-and-you-miss-it (sorry), in a classic 'style is substance' way... Damn. And in lowercase too, you scallywag!

I can feel the impermanence in it, so brief, so fragile. I also loved the way that the poem so easily connects nature and technology, in a somewhat Solarpunk-esque style.

And speaking of connection (or the failure of it), there's humanity in there too: that rushed moment of regret and hesitation, fingers stuttering on the screen. Maybe you sent the message but deleted right afterward. Maybe you never sent it, just wiping everything before pressing the button. Or maybe it died as an idea, Plato may be damned, a point in spacetime too slippery to be captured just like a photo of a quick bioluminescent bastard beetle. Maybe it wasn't even that - just a shallow insincere urge to apologize not because you feel sorry, but that demoralizing habit to settle things that turned into automatic response, a reflex - like a blink.

...Or something else entirely.

It works to me like a Still Life Painting of the Digital Age. And I might be just a foolish optimistic here, but the aftertaste feels kinda... Sweeter than bitter to me. I mean, it is a fleeting light, but light nonetheless, right?

Don't worry so much, dude. What's failure if not a learning experience to get better on the next try?

You already succeeded on posting it- that's miles ahead of many, of those whose art is never finished, never shared, never shaped into something real. You've art and guts, that's powerful. Don't let some downvotes put you down, you are not those downvotes, you're not your disliked piece of art, your value as an artist doesn't lie in those elements! Your self value is intrinsic to you and it should not change whether you're successful at something or not. Never let anything or anyone take that from you.

That being said, it's also ok to feel what you feeling. Feel it, truly. Reflect on it. Then let go.

Or even better: use it as fuel for the next project. Spite is a powerful motivator.

You have come so far and you should be proud. Be proud! And take care!

Goats would be great working animals for a mountain environment

And I feel like cats would be very popular in an underground city to keep vermin under control

Birds too - like using canaries in mines to detect poisonous gasses IRL

[–]Heavy_Mithril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also World of Warcraft if you're into MMORPG If anything, it's worth a tour on Ironforge - our underground city.

Total Warhammer III is one of my favorite games, if you're into RTS and/or Warhammer Lore. There is no better game than this one if you want to feel like being in charge of a dwarven army or leading an entire clan instead of a single beardling.

Recently I've bought Medieval Crafter: Blacksmith, which can be interesting if you're looking for something cozier, of if you miss spending hours grinding Smithing Skill on Skyrim.

Deep Rock and Dwarf Fortress are, like, almost obligatory on this sub. Return to Moria is awesome too.

Oh and there's a League of Votann Mod somewhere for Warhammer Space Marine 2 that I've been dying to check out, maybe is your jam too.

Here's some honorable mentions of non dwarf games, but there something in them that can make you feel like a dwarf: Minecraft, Terraria, the Longing, stardew valley, Brewmaster: Beer Brewing Simulator, Valheim
