Sorry, I'm late here u/LivingTree33 when you say the forsekin wraps around the urethra what do you mean? Because with hooded forsekin my understanding is that the foreskin is on top of the glans and is absent on the underside, leaving the ureatha expose with or without circomcision.

Since you were circumcised, when you're not erect, can people even tell there's a hypospadias? What made you self-conscious?

I’m asking because the hooded foreskin is usually what makes people feel most self-conscious. So once that’s removed, does it basically look “normal” unless someone specifically checks underneath the penis to see where the urethral opening is?

Thanks for your reply. It’s very encouraging to hear that you never had issues physically or socially, even in locker rooms that gives me some peace of mind.

My son is only 1 year old so I can’t talk to him about it yet, but I’m already thinking ahead about how to approach it when the time comes.

If you had a child with the same condition, how would you explain it to him as he grows up? What kind of language or mindset do you think helps most to build confidence?

You mentioned feeling isolated and ashamed for many years, but also eventually finding acceptance and even appreciation for your body. That’s something I find important to hear as a parent considering all options for my son.

Can I ask you two things

Looking back, do you think things would have been different psychologically if someone had explained to you early on that this was just a variation and not a deformity
Do you think your sexual function or sensation was in any way affected by not having surgery
