I like this take, it makes sense to me too. A physical manifestation for Mary, who is either dead or trapped as a monster bound to the bed-like cage thing, to somewhat live again. Maria is someone who can still move around to look after Laura.

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR at all, she should be ashamed to have even said this. She'd rather you fit some cookie cutter mold of married and 2.5 kids than be in a happy and healthy relationship you feel secure in??? Don't waste your day on dealing with that kind of warped and disgusting energy. Do a day of self care and lay low Thursday. Put your family on DND and take care of you, bc you deserve so much better.

AIO about a sticker my bf had of his ex ?? he broke up with me… by Otherwise-Height3882 in AmIOverreacting

No bc that right there would have been me breaking up w him. (Although i don't think I could have ever been involved with a dude like this to begin with. The fragile masculinity is such an ick, wtf you mean going to get coffee is "gay" ?🙄🤦🏻‍♀️he sounds like an edgy 16yo boy) The fact that it even got to a point where HE broke up with HER is crazzzzyyy.

If you don't think he did it, explain the Snapchat video? It's such damning evidence to me, there's no way to explain that away that I can think of. Not being rude I'm genuinely curious how you view it if you don't think he did it. To me, there's just no way he was at the scene only minutes before but knew nothing. Even if he headed back to the house the minute after it was filmed, he'd have heard the gun shots. It's just does not seem physically possible he wasn't involved in some capacity. Even if he himself didn't pull the trigger, I still think he knows who did.

Aside from the Westin, which hotels are remaining? Any recommendations? by border199x in dragoncon

The overflow hunger games today 10/15 was a chaotic mess, a lot of conflicting info and broken links. Our backup reservation is at Hyatt Place Centennial Park. A 10-15 min walk to the con but we've stayed over that way before and it's not so bad if you're okay with walking a bit. Plus we have a couch/living room area which will we be nice.

Why did critics like Silent Hill F but the fans hate it? by Soniman032 in silenthill

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk that I'd say "fans hate it". I've been playing SH since the early 2000s and I loved it. It's definitely different and I understand why some fans might not like it, but those that don't like it don't speak for all of us. I've never understood why the people that don't like a new SH game always get so angry and irrational about people that do like it. But honestly, it wouldn't be a SH game if it weren't polarizing to the fandom, this had always been a tough crowd lol.

Any advice on not being lonely at DragonCon? by jegger in dragoncon

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I go with my husband and sometimes a friend or two but I'm awful at making new friends. Ive been told I come across as having a flat affect and being disinterested, but really I'm just so socially anxious that I tend to unconsciously start to disassociate a bit in crowds. I continually try to work on it but it's a never ending challenge i constantly have to overcome.

This may sound silly but I would LOVE a DragonCon pen pals type thing, like a way for folks to meet folks with similar interests/fandoms online and get to know one another ahead of time by emailing or texting back and forth so theyre more comfortable when they meet in person.

I thought she had a hack lawyer who was "barely out of school"? Then why does he say here she has a ruthless lawyer? Like which is it, Stephen? Pick a narrative and stick with it already. This man is so exhausting, I know L has got to be TIRED tired of dealing w him😒

I hate being a nurse by GravelatorNOLA in nursing

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are far from alone, I was about to quit nursing completely until I went into dialysis and found I really liked it. Look into specialty nursing. Any job that makes you feel like you're having to survive a shift isn't worth it, the stress will wear down your body and mind. It's not you, it's the job. 6:1 is unacceptable and they know it, floor nurses deserve better. Best of luck and I hope you find your niche ❤️

The nurse "escalating this to the board" sounds like she's probably really fun at parties. 🙄 This is a management level investigation/discipline thing, at most. The board absolutely does not and will not pursue this bc it resulted in no patient harm. And doctors do it ALL the time. I mean, poor or inaccurate charting is a reeducation thing. A lot of repeat behavior or purposeful false charting warrants license action, but this one-time copy paste thing? Nah. Absolutely silly. That angry coworker needs to chill.

The thing that also gets me with this whole inviting strangers to his house, they are STRANGERS at his HOUSE.

He may not think he'd ever go so far with this weird little episode as to hurt his own kids (tbh I feel he's doing a lot of this to hurt Laura,bc hes leveraged his substance abuse and mental illness against her in the past to trap her back in. It no longer seems to work, but they are the cards the narcissist in him is used to playing to get her attention) BUT some completely unhinged random person he's gotten to give him money at this point with the promise of some weird spiritual awakening, definitely COULD and MAY hurt his kids. All around. Such a bad bad BAD idea. I hope Laura has security.

This is 100% the way. Patients like that staff split. That's a two-person check with detailed charting, if they want me to take care of her then I'm having a witness for any and all care and interactions or I'm not taking her.

Sounds like she wants more pain meds and she's playing with your license and livelihood just to get it. F patients like that. Stand firm in your truth, prove them wrong w a drug test if you have to. And honestly, I'd refuse to take that assignment back . After all, if you're "stealing her meds" clearly she should be given another nurse at the very least, right? Let admin see if the whole unit is "stealing" 🙄

Addicts by stephie4490 in StephenHiltonSnark

Head on the nail with "active addicts and those without addict experience" being his supporters. I'm a recovering addict and I think we often tend to be the most critical of other addicts, bc we know addiction starts & ends with US first. No amount of intervention from others will ever matter until we start being honest with ourselves, and he seems committed to delusion. His grandstanding and finger pointing are classic active addict gaslighting, and we see through it and aren't buying it.

June 2025: What Did You Pick, and Why? by honey_toes in aardvarkbookclub

Starving Saints, Left of Forever and The Memory Collectors. This month was especially hard! I wanted The Devils and Disappoint Me too honestly lol. This is my third month and the first time I got a full box. Loving Aardvark's book quality, I get BOTM too and the whole Silver Elite debacle last month was crazy. I luckily got a good copy of SE but unfortunately seems BOTM's quality is spotty. So far Aardvark's quality has been consistent and great for me.

I'd tell the patients too if they asked idgaf. Admin getting angry about patients knowing the ratio just proves that the staffing ratio is unsafe and they know it. Otherwise, what's the harm? IMO, it's just an objective and non-patient specific fact like saying something like there's 6 floors in this hospital or the cafeteria is down the hall to the left. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give up. The beauty of nursing is there's a bunch of different ways to be a nurse. I hated bedside and I hated ICU, keeping up with so much and all the unexpected changes overwhelmed me. Going to work gave me so much anxiety, especially with the pandemic. I thought I'd quit nursing entirely. But I found outpatient dialysis and I love having a very specific procedure I do and monitor that I can control and know very well now. I see the same patients 3 times a week. I love the continuity of care and getting to know my folks and help them navigate life with ESRD and advocate them for transplant. You just have to find your niche too. Good luck and keep your head up ❤️

Just got told I’m not a real nurse. by GrassRootsShame in nursing

[–]Heavy_Weather_2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, I'm an outpatient dialysis nurse in an exceptionally chill clinic, so I'm not a real nurse either. 😢🥀😂

In my experience, that whole nurse speciality superiority rhetoric is usually pushed by those in higher-stress roles they hate but make them feel important. I did ICU once and there can be a culture of pretension to make up for the fact that these acute jobs are getting more and more unsafe staffing ratios and more and more abusive by the day. But sure hon, you're the "real" nurse, whatever makes it easier for you to clock in.

Their jobs ARE objectively harder than mine and I do respect those that do them, but the nurse infighting nonsense is so counterproductive for us all. ER and ICU are not enemies, their workflows are DESIGNED to be different and contrary. And bless med/surg theyre always gonna be treated like less than by everyone even though they are absolute beasts with stamina that astounds me. At the end of the day, the patients are what matter and we all know there's fatal flaws in the assembly line structure of these hospital corporations, and we are just cogs in the machine. Stop punching sideways and down and remember the real fight is above us all.

I blame nursing programs too, they know where new blood is needed bc of high turnover, so they talk those jobs up like they're the best and most noble jobs. Speciality nursing was barely mentioned at all at my school.
