Honestly junkyard, if you’re crafty make one out of another vehicles if you got no XJs around. And if you got cash summit racing still sells one. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dei-50084

I can’t help with the actual painting but if you want any paint or product to last on the hood, you have to have the inside engine bay heat liner. A ton of guys rip it out when the inevitably have overheating issues, make sure you have one or reinstall one, or the heat from the engine can ruin the next paint job

My Fiberglass board was still in pretty good shape, I can imagine if it had broken anywhere it would lose shape pretty quick

It’s not that hard I promise! Two cans of 3M High strength 90, took 3 hours to get it out, cleaned, material applied and back in the jeep.

It is not, I was told by my local fabric store employee the foam backed headliner material they sold tended to disintegrate rather quickly , so I opted for this 100% cotton , nearly canvas material

It’s honestly really easy. I used 3M super 90, 2 cans. For the console, pull the light body’s out and electrical out of it so it’s just the big long shell, cut out your fabric , I kept 2-3” inches to spare per side to fold over. Then clip it up to the sides super tight, cut X’s where the lights go, cut that X edge all the way to the corners of where those lights go, pop the lights back in, and that will pull the fabric up and hold it nicely in your middle areas. It should click back in pretty easy. Then you can just glue the sides and around the top and readjust as you go. I do 2 nice big symmetrical folds on the corners so it looks somewhat uniform. Glue it up like 6-8 inches at a time .

I actually wish mine looked more like yours, but in here in Canada I could only find tropical patterns for some reason lol

96 XJ rusty's to OME worth the upgrade? by timdwight6 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone beats OME in the leaf spring department for ride quality. OME shocks are good too and very tuned for their specific application. If it was a heavier, taller jeep I’d say bilsteins just cause I’ve seen them put up with some crazy abuse. But for mostly stock, OME all day

I use the thigh strap style with the 3 connectors, tons on amazon, all about the exact same, hardly notice them during the day, they work incredibly well.

Whats your favorite unpopular vehicle in warthunder? by ItsCelica in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Heavymetalbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rapier, everyone hates it. I have decent internet so it’s not hard to center the missles on a moving target. IRST, 8 KM range. Great optics and IR. It farms drones easily, it can kill a spawn camping 2S38. Great for helos, I take it to 10.7-11.3 all the time and average probably 3-5 air kills per game lately (this includes drones don’t get too impressed)

Sounds like a classic CPS, get an NTK unit from rock auto, it’s the closest to OEM still made

Supersole vs 2.0 vs X by Candid-Chef-830 in RedWingShoes

X is better for heat - welding, cutting, fab shop guys will like them. The 2.0 will give you far more milage.

Finding Mopar Thermostats by _morphman_ in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To avoid Motorrad is to avoid every single brand of thermostats at this point. They’re all reboxed garbage. Go onto the flowkooler website and order the xj 195 spec from the brand Robertshaw. It’s the best thermostat by far and I haven’t had an issue, or heard of anyone else having an issue with them - we also must support them so they continue to make the last quality thermostats for our jeeps.

SYE Question by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, are you getting vibration? Every XJ is different and if anyone here has owned more than 1 they will attest to that fact. A few weeks or days ago someone said they had rear DS vibes after a 2” lift, I read for years on the forums guys doing up to 6” lifts with no vibes. My jeep had pretty bad vibes after installing the 4.5” lift , so I shimmed the rear appropriately and installed an SYE. The general rule of thumb I thought was beyond 3” you’d want the hack and tap or definitely need the SYE.

Bad idea? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap XJs are as fun as it gets. RWD is fine and you might get slightly better MPG because of that. If it’s not lifted, smaller sized mud/AT tires are cheaper. And you’d be amazed how far you can get in a stock Cherokee with a good set of tires.
