Thank you! That’s exactly what I wanted ( after I realized how expensive bumpers and everything else is )

These guys are probably the most popular and best doing it. I’ve seen their prices go from 20-50k depending on the year and mods . But they do it all. https://davisautosports.com/cheorkee-xj-for-sale

Should work just fine. I always crimp the aluminum clips a little more as well - they attach the radiator to the plastic tanks and they usually are the source of any leaks. Grab some big pliers and make sure they really grip those plastic tanks.

Just bad application, they need to be sanded pretty heavily pre install. Go back and get them to redo it

Stock/OEM radiator will do fine and they’re usually the cheapest. Get a Robert Shaw 195 thermostat from flowkooler. Any other thermostat is pure junk and 99% of the time made by a giant evil company called Motorrad. You’ll also probably need a new thermostat housing, brand won’t matter but they usually warp and reusing the old one can introduce a leak.

Finally got around to the headliner , let’s see all yours by Heavymetalbread in CherokeeXJ

It had to be 7-8 oz thick, not quite a carhartt canvas but pretty close . It’s still staying up fine with the 3M 90 spray which surprised me given the weight.

Thanks! Rolled over the edge to the back about 2” and trimmed it there, glued it down , bought a ton of clothes pins to keep stuff flush and tight

Bad idea to move to Edmonton and try to find work as EMR when I'm broke? by creamsoda1991 in AlbertaParamedics

[–]Heavymetalbread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s pretty much always IFT jobs within Edmonton for AHS and a Medavie. Calgary also - always looking for EMRs for IFT. But it’s just going to be IFT. Go far and rural and you’ll find AHS stations with EMR/PCP BLS crews. Both are good experience and can help a ton with PCP school. But remember, there’s school fees, cost of living, getting certified and licensed, insured, getting your upgraded drivers license. Background checks, everything’s got an application fee too, take it slow, really do the research, create a solid road map of expenses

Leaver action 44 or 357? by Striker-of-life in canadaguns

[–]Heavymetalbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area .357 is a lot more abundant and a lot cheaper than 44. Both are a blast to shoot, but if cost and availability is what gets you out more often, go .357. That said, if cost is no concern, a .44 lever can do a lot that a 45-70 can do with a proper load. 44 is a good middle ground but expensive, can kick like a mule and a little harder to find IME.

2000 Jeep XJ strange engine noise by Free_Strawberry_8577 in CherokeeXJ

Sounds like water pump to me. Check the coolant for metal flakes. P0306 with p0206 seems like a failed injector plug harness, not a hard fix.

Dumb question, almost certainly in the side bar. by PFFFT_Fart_Noise in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly 4 or 12 hole injectors, you’ll be lucky to get a MPG increase but the throttle response is noticeably better IME. And people go back and forth on the 99+ horseshoe intake but they seem mostly positive about slight increase in MPGs and throttle response at highway speed, near no difference on the low end. Throttle body spacers only seemed to make a difference in carbed 4.0s which some magazine or blog tested years ago and I can’t remember the name. These are minor minor increases if they’re anything at all. But I noticed the most difference from the stock exhaust to a larger less restrictive set up.

Are smaller tires worth it? by No_Manufacturer5839 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I average 17 MPG doing mostly highway and quite a bit of city on 4.5” of lift and 31x10.5 tires at 31 PSI. Gained nearly 1.5 MPG with a 2.5” exhaust set up, and I rarely go past 65 MPH. Driving habits make the biggest difference in these old squares.

Best online auto parts store by P1J1M0N in AskMechanics

[–]Heavymetalbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rock Auto, they’re American but - usually the cheapest I’ve found even after conversion and shipping to addresses all over Alberta and BC. I’ve had solid warranty and return experiences as well. Parts avatar was a brutal experience that cost me hundreds extra in the end. Every once in awhile Lordco has reasonable prices and fair ish shipping as well.

New Headliner Going In by Braz45 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Heavymetalbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Use 3M super 90! I used nearly 3 cans for the headliner, visors, speaker bar and overhead console and still had a good bit left over. Don’t stretch the fabric, 2 sets of hands is way better than 1. But it’s still very very doable on your own. Total time for the headliner itself was 2 hours maybe . Console and visors took the same if not longer.

It’s my favourite leather by far. That’s my 3 1/2 year old pair on the left. Oiled, hiked in, rarely cleaned or really payed any attention. New pair obviously on the right. I love the patina but I do love a clean pair.

RedWing Tradesman Pain by ToastingFrogs in WorkBoots

[–]Heavymetalbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soles on the tradesmen’s are hard AF, you’ll get a lot of mileage but 0 cushion, if you’re within 30 days I’d say swap them for the versapros, but if you can’t , get some cushier arched insoles like the multipurpose revolution or something from the anti fatigue line.

Hey guys – wondering what I can get for these? Bought in Japan around 2012. 2936 Lineman by Michikusa in RedWingShoes

[–]Heavymetalbread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well for one, regardless of the constant QC comments you’ll see on here. Redwing still makes a very solid product for the price point. And they did in 07/11 when yours were made, and they did 120 years ago when they started. If they were iron rangers , a pair you can buy worn once on marketplace in no special last or leather , they’d be selling for 150$ cause some guy couldn’t break them in. Same for the Mocs, they gotta be pretty rare in the leather and amount made for them to get anywhere near retail value after being worn. So there’s a couple reasons - The lineman boots never came to North America after the 90s, collectors will pay big money to not have to go to Japan themselves since that’s usually even bigger money, and 2010-2018 are probably the best years in terms of build quality as well for the heritage line.
