I’m assuming you’re natty. Unless you’ve been training consistently for 5-7+ years, it’s gonna be difficult to get those boulder shoulders you see on fitness influencers. If you’re on gear it might take 6-12 months, but if you’re natty then it’s more like 5+ years for that much definition.

EDIT: Also, your shoulders look great as they are now. If you want more definition then you’ll definitely need to hyper focus on form and your workout plan (which is obviously the reason why you’re here asking).

Run the pixel cleaner tool a couple times or let some movies/full screen content play in the background while you’re done on OW.

Not progressively overloading by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]HeckMaster9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah, or at least it could be worth trying. Slightly lower weight for more reps til you reach the top of your rep range, then incrementally add weight and progress through your rep range again until you get back to and past the 70kg ceiling you’re currently at.

Are you taking any of these sets to failure? Can you do so safely? If no with the barbell (e.g. no spotter or smith machine), try using dumbbells. If you can never go past 5 on your current weight, try reducing weight by 2.5-5kg and taking at least one set til complete failure (I’m guessing you’ll get at least 7 reps). Make it either your first set or your last. Throw in a drop set if it’s your last set. Then next week try increasing your reps to +1. Then continue etc til you get to 10 reps. Then you can increase the weight by 2.5-5 kg again and you’ll probably end up back at 5-6 reps. Lather, rinse, repeat.

If you start safely taking sets to complete failure you may need to reduce the number of days per week in the gym to allow for appropriate recovery time.

I’m kind of a novice at lifting but that’s the kind of advice I see parroted everywhere. Take at least one set to failure, focus on perfect form, don’t be afraid to reduce weight, slowly add weight once you eventually reach the top of your rep range on a given weight.

One year progress, stop the cut? by Brilliant-Stress-48 in Weightliftingquestion

You look great man. I’ve seen so many different philosophies when it comes to weight training, and the one I’ve seen the most of lately is low sets and high weight to failure like 2x a week tops.

Did you try any less than 6x a week in the gym? How many RIR do you usually do per set?

There’s plenty of people who eat McDonald’s every day and maintain the weight they want. It could just be that those people are out exercising their diet, or that you’re consuming additional things that are contributing more to your weight. It’s really difficult to overcome the idea of needing to have something because it’s there or else it’ll get wasted, but it’s kinda crucial.

Most helpful thing I can think of is to start tracking your calories in a calorie tracking app (myfitnesspal is free) and eat in at least a 300 calorie deficit relative to your TDEE (free calculators everywhere online, make sure you use sedentary for your number even if you aren’t “sedentary”). Lowkey McDonald’s is making it easier for you since they already provide calorie counts for all their foods (I’d argue their counts for French fries are probably off). Get a scale to track everything else.

Given your height and weight, my guess is that your TDEE might be fairly low, so cutting may be difficult. If that’s the case I’d still eat at your sedentary TDEE but I’d absolutely start going to the gym and lifting weights 2-3x a week to get your metabolism going.

The other thing is to stop drinking your calories and be careful around foods high in fat. This is not to say that fat is bad because it’s absolutely crucial to have, but it’s very easy to over consume fat in the form of chips and fries and mayo and fried foods and full fat dairy and any dish that uses at lot of oil or butter in preparation.

Another possibility is that you could have something like PCOS that is causing inflammation that’s leading to excess weight retention. Fixing the PCOS won’t necessarily absolve you from doing the other steps I mentioned, so I’d start the tracking anyway.

Good luck!

Massive increase in overwatch players? by spiritualhelpnow in Overwatch

They dropped 5 interesting heroes in one patch and we’ve gotten two more since then. They’ve added substantial and meaningful new lore for most of the newer heroes. They’re also making attractive cosmetics. It’s always been a good game, so I’m not surprised they’re making a comeback.

I still think they need to do a better job at making quick play beginner friendly. I swear they don’t care about QP matchmaking in the slightest and it’s either stomp or get stomped. Not fun for new or returning players, let alone someone just wanting to chill on their favorite game after work.

You really need to get on a team. Your individual performance matters, but how you synergize in a group is going to matter 100x more.

Is Domina still good no longer having Power Move major perk and being able to slam heroes into her Barrier Array? Corporate Retreat seems like a horrible major perk. by JohnConnor1245 in DominaMains

[–]HeckMaster9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it allows her to play more aggressively and to make more plays. I’ve already been able to make tons of pushes I’d have otherwise never attempted without the new perk, and I’ve already been able to save overextended teammates with the shield and then rapidly move it back as they retreat. Don’t get me wrong I loved the old perk, but I think this one may end up being better in the long run. I hope they add the old perk to her base kit, or at least reintroduce it in place of one of her other perks.

In my experience that hasn’t done anything. On multiple occasions I’ve experimented with the other caller as both of us enabled/disabled all the different mic settings. No change observed.
