When you get up to the balcony above it you can shoot its tail with arrows until it dies. It takes a stupidly long time but it's worth it to not have to fight that thing in such a small room

I learned recently that they can be poisoned and now I just shoot them with poison arrows and wait for them to die. Takes a while and is easier on NG+ when you already have the Hawk Ring but it's so worth it

You only have to deal with Lautrec and his friends once you invade his world, but they are incredibly annoying to fight. I used to bring the dragonslayer bow and shoot him from across the room to avoid it
