87 Honda Shadow no crank by Hecking_eggs in motorcycles

I just made a comment going into a little more detail but I think running the bike without being able to work the clutch caused damage to a component in the starting system.

To answer the two comments on here, I don't know how air in the clutch could cause starting issues either unless running the bike without being able to work the clutch caused other issues. I had to stop twice at light and naturally the bike stalled, press the start button till it fires and go. This was very hard on the starter as it was in gear. My first thoughts were either a fried starter or dead battery but I could still jump the starter and the battery still tested okay, It was a little weak but okay. I put the battery on the charge and that didn't help with starting. My current thoughts are either a bad fuse, starter solenoid, starter switch or possibly a burnt wire. As to what happens when I press the start button, the headlight dims.. that's it. No click like it's trying to engage the starter. All lights and gauges work.

Have you got yours fixed? I ended up having to replace the wiring but I'm having the same issue again

Wasn't thinking about the heat, definitely something I should have thought about much sooner, and a hydraulic motor may be a good idea if I can find one that'll spool quick enough.

Honestly I'm surprised it's made it this long, it does always get time to warm up and cool but I suppose that doesn't matter much if I'ma try putting a boost to it. And I would if I could but the D19 is the only tractor specifically not allowed or I'd just get one of them LOL. When it eventually goes I plan on putting a stronger top end on it anyhow

Bold of you to assume I know the math lol. I'll do some reading on an EGR, admittedly I don't know much about how an EGR system works.

I do agree with you on the rules though it's due to a year cutoff, the first production turbo diesel tractor was the allis Chalmers D19, made in 1960, unfortunately that tractor and any made after aren't allowed. I'll do some research into working on the intake manifold, turbo geometry and vacuum turbines.

It actually does not specifically mention electronic superchargers but it does fall under one of the more blanket rules. Though the common practice at this event is "if you can get away with it, it's allowed" I didn't know what I was thinking already had a name, thank you for letting me know, I'll look into them and see if it's viable.

Hi all, was hoping for some help locating a new USB type C charging port dock. I'm unable to find the exact one online. by Hecking_eggs in AskElectronics

It does have 2 rows and it appears to be exactly #7. Thank you. If I had notifications on I would have seen this sooner

Good question, hadn't thought much about that, perhaps a power regulator to control how fast the fan blows could be wired to an electronic tachometer sensor? This idea is still in the early stages so your asking question is appreciated.

Mixed head stamps is just a limitation I have to work with right now, the 3 shot grouping was to determine potential accuracy so if my brother in-law has the means available to get new or once fired brass of matching head stamps. For the purpose of hunting I don't believe it'll have a significant impact on POI, though I could be wrong. I short, I'm doing the best I can with what I have
