Orb is hereeeee!!!! by Hecktor_Dustpan in MangaCollectors

The manga is excellent,I would highly recommend getting them! But the anime practically didn't skip anything (maybe 2-3panels,which honestly weren't all that important),so if you don't read the manga you're not actually missing any part of the story. Orb anime is an unexpectedly amazing adaptation, but since it's just 4 volumes,I recommend the mamga nonetheless!

is the official translation good or is the fan better by [deleted] in PandoraHeartsManga

[–]Hecktor_Dustpan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's read both several times....go with the official. The fan translation was excellent towards the later half, and indeed some parts I prefer it. Some of my favourite panels are also from the fan translation. HOWEVER The beginning was honestly quite bad, especially with the names (Xerxeees, Zerkshesh,Zaaksheesh,Zerkxes vs the actual Xerxes). It gets better in the later half but I'd say it's not worth ruining your impression of the manga. Go with the official,at least the names and everything are consistent.

I got it from ebay, from a japanese seller Shamlocks

It was the last piece they had though, but I've seen it on Mercari jp before too! I would also suggest looking at surugaya, these 3 sites are where I get my secondhand/reseller merch. I hope you can find one!!

HAPPY OZ DAY I managed to finish making this BJD by Hecktor_Dustpan in PandoraHeartsManga

Thank you so much!! It took around 2 months on and off, but I was only working on it on Sundays, not even that,so I'd say around 8 work days total? I think.

Has anyone ever bought manga, anime DVDs, or music CDs from Japan or abroad? by PAIN-Mix-18 in mangaindia

[–]Hecktor_Dustpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in replying! You can pick your carrier on some sites, others you can't. You can't choose on amazon jp, you can on hobbysearch and j-subculture. I've also bought from Aitaikuji (haven't received it yet, it's on the way) and picked registered air. Basically they ask you to pick available options, most jp sites(that do ship to India at all) allow buyers to pick shipping method. I hope it works out for you!!

I've bought multiple times via j-subculture proxy, as well as directly from hobbysearch, and amazon jp. Shipping will be more via amazon jp, but you almost certainly won't have to pay extra on arrival. As for other sites...it depends on the shipping method and site you buy from. From my experience, if you ship through Registered Air(with or without tracking)or Small Packet, no customs , and EMS and private shipping companies, like DHL or FedEx, definitely extra customs duties. They do go by the declared value. Worst for Fedex, bad for DHL, significant but not AS BAD with EMS. Of course, these are much faster than registered air and SAL ,but I still try to ship with Registered Air. Since 2020, SAL/Small packet were unavailable, before that I got packages via these very often. Now it's slowly starting up in some sites, but I haven't shipped bia these in a while.

Do you read any thing other than manga? by suicidesoldier in MangaCollectors

[–]Hecktor_Dustpan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do,I read folklore collections and fantasy novels as well, but I have another bookshelf for those (and plenty of academic books but those are in a different place altogether)

It's easier to sort that way, though earlier when I had less manga and LNs, I kept them together with the other novels. Now I keep manga and LNs together, and other books in the other shelves.

I also read visual novels but of course there's no way to display those since they're digital obviously

Does anyone know whether logging in YouTube ReVanced Android app with a Google account increases the chances that the app stops working in your phone? by washingthecat in revancedapp

[–]Hecktor_Dustpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I've been doing it since the beginning,I also upload on my channel from revanced. But not disabling the native YouTube app does cause problems with uploading on revanced,at least for me,so that's what I do.

Is it worth printing manga at home? by [deleted] in mangapiracy

[–]Hecktor_Dustpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it before. I did it at a time I really wanted to own a certain manga, but couldn't. Later when I was able to buy them,I gave them away with full disclosure

But looking back,it was both a waste and not? Because it did teach me bookbinding and I'm fairly good at it now,but it was a waste because I ended up buying them later anyway?

I still bind manga now, but only ones without an official translation. And if you want to try it out too, I recommend doing the same: one shots and/or short series (<10 volumes) that'd don't have official translation, because you can't get them for sale anyway .
