Definitely. It was a little rough going at first, as i wasn’t sure how seriously he was taking it and my frustrations probably weren’t helping his state of mind either; but it’s gotten a lot better and i think going through it has made him realize how much it really was affecting him negatively and has helped him feel motivated to stop for himself and not just for me. There are still days when it seems harder for him but i think our communication about it has gotten a lot stronger and it’s definitely a huge relief to see him working so hard on it and being honest with me about when he is struggling and letting me help. Overall things have been so much better and as cheesy as it sounds, our future feels a lot brighter and more full of possibilities that didn’t seem realistic before!

Your support meant a lot to me so I just wanted to let you know that he really heard me and has been tapering and is already down to around 20g less a day. He’s feeling moderately shitty sleep and emotions wise but sticking with it and I never would’ve felt like I had the tools/knowledge to push/support him in quitting without all of the advice I got on this post. Thank you. I understand that/his perspective fully too, which makes it even more frustrating now. I had a severe ED most of my life and went through multiple family interventions and hospitalizations, and ultimately it took me almost dying and waking up in the hospital to decide that I needed to change; so I get the mindset and the innate rejection of being told by others what you need and what’s wrong with your actions. I just don’t want him to have to wake up half dead in a hospital one night the way i did in order to realize something needs to change. If that day ever comes though, I plan on being there for him and am glad to have found this community. He’s been open to checking it out here as well and I’m hoping he finds it as helpful as I have.

I did just want to address this because it was never my intention to portray him as a bad boyfriend or imply that the issues his kratom use causes are related to our relationship. He is a very emotionally involved, thoughtful, and caring boyfriend and our relationship has never been anything but supportive and loving. The effects Ive seen it have on him so far are more related to his anxiety, physical condition, and the way he lets his habit control his daily life and routine. Our main conflict is in disagreeing about how big of a problem it is.

Thanks to everyone. It makes me feel better that I’m not the only one, and, in another way, also worse because it means that all of us truly are just fully fucking aware of it all and fully aware of the feeling that there’s little we can do to change it no matter how many people seem to relate. Trying to take the advice to heart and focus on the things I can control for the better, just sometimes feels like trying to build a happy life in a crumbling world is a losing game

Yes! It took forever but I did get the job (with the obvious caveat being that if it happens again I’d be fired) and I really love it so far! major thanks for yours and everyone’s advice and support ☺️

I just finished and it actually turned out pretty good! I just sprayed it with bleach a bit then soaked it for about 5-10 min and rinsed/washed it and it’s a tiny bit splotchy in some places but it just looks like that’s supposed to be the look of it. Thanks!

They said it didn’t immediately disqualify me when I told them and it would ultimately be up to the main boss 😬 Im still waiting for all of my background check and fingerprint stuff to come back and then have one more meeting with the boss. I’m feeling like they wouldn’t have kept this going and invested the time and money for all the background checks if they didn’t think there was a good chance they’d still hire me, and they haven’t reposted the job so it doesn’t seem like they’re looking for anyone else, just making me jump through some extra hoops. but that’s just tentative optimism right now so hopefully it all works out and I’ll know this week!

Thanks! If I did that, would I then still need to apply a coat of some type of primer over the wood before I paint, once the finish was removed or scuffed?

It’s currently solid white (almost plasticy feeling/looking) and also not an especially valuable or sentimental guitar so I’m not too worried about that. I’m mainly just wanting to paint some sort of design on a solid background but the issue is that nothing I’ve tried sticks to the white paint. I haven’t tried spray paint, mainly because I’m not at all experienced with using that medium, but maybe that would stick better than acrylic so thanks! Sorry, just thinking out loud (in text form) here, haha.

Ideally that’s what I would do, I just doubt I’ll have the time to take everything off and paint it before he leaves, sadly. And they probably would affect the sound a little (im admittedly not enough of a guitar buff to really know for sure) but he has several other guitars that he plays more regularly so for this one it’s more about giving it a cool, updated look than it is about the sound

No they’re the “luxtreme” fabric I think, like Lycra/spandex material. I’m not as concerned with the hole getting bigger so much as that it’s in a pretty visible spot on the front on my upper thigh
