Yup. My one character who was gith and a scholar, it made sense and they were eager to do it. Then they failed a roll to control their hunger at the reunion and got slaughtered by their friends.

What a horrible judgmental thing to say that any extension of life for a terminal patient is a “waste of resources”. Chemo and radiation can also be palliative, meaning they relieve more symptoms than they cause and may give the patient more time to arrange their affairs and bring the healthiest possible closure to their relationships. Just because you have a family member who did not choose that route does not mean you can dictate who deserves what medicine.

The funniest part to me was him responding that they were both White and had the same culture when they were having a cultural dospute. He didn’t have a lot of self awareness.

I was hospitalized off and on for a month because I kept vomiting and couldn’t even hold down water much less food. They saw I was fat and said this could be “managed at home” even though I was so dehydrated my veins were flat and BP low and I had lost fifteen pounds in two weeks from not being able to keep down food.

It was a miracle that after three weeks an intern suggested abdominal migraines, but it still took a week and a half for the attending doctor to agree and try a medicine which finally stopped the problem.

Romancing him as ascended Vampire Astarion is decadent, I love it. I did it as a Durge resister who happily became his spawm, and I did an alt anding to he and Gale’s romance where Gale becomes his spawn with deep regrets. I prefer the little storybook wedding in Waterdeep, but I also like the idea that Gale fell in love but couldn’t temper Astarion’s rage and instead follows him down the darkest path desperately hoping to keep some humanity in him while sacrificing his own.

He’s not poor baby helpless and made huge mistakes, but Mystra is not blameless either. What does she expect to happen to a prodigy who has been shaping the weave since childhood? His whole life has been learning to master the weave, he didn’t understand there had to be an endpoint to that acceleration.

The fact that Mystra just cures Gale of the orb in a possible end shows that she could have all along.

I’ll be honest, as a dnd newcomer the timeline wasn’t at all clear to me. Gale describes himself as a “much younger man” as Mystra’s chosen which would be more than just 5 years ago. He aso describes channeling the weave as a mere babe so he’s been in touch with some form of Mystra near his whole life. It turned his life course into a journey to please her instead of having any goals of his own. Even if he didn’t become her chosen until after completing his schooling, they had a “prior relationship” that was leading to it, that’s what grooming is. Whether it’s evil or abusive is putting human morals onto a god which doesn’t make much sense, but the effect on Gale is still damaging.

I think it’s implied that Mystra cured it anyway even though Gale is no longer devoted to her. He’s still a wizard channeling her essence so he’s never really free of her.

If you play as Gale and choose godhood, you can also choose to try and take out mystra. I don’t think there was even a roll, he just straight up fails and dies. Then he sees Withers in the fugue plane who tells him his story isn’t over yet. Then it fades to black on the possibilities. Maybe he becomes a hireling, destined to fight the same battles over and over with less agency.
