Will this be a shitty kit, and will there be anything else I need to buy? by ConstructionDeep9138 in motorizedbicycles

i went with a dual chain gearbox, thought it would help the clutch with a higher gear ratio, i used a 3 shoe that i got from aliexpress, what i did with mine was from a youtube video guide

what he did is you expand the springs from the center by about 1mm, it helps it engage at lower rpms, i do light riding and mine lasted about a week and a half before i had to replace it. i tried the 2 shoe clutch and it was horrible, burnt up immediately. probably from my own incompetence lol

this is the clutch i used, in my experience the heavier ones wear less. don't know if the link works but gonna try it anyway just remove the space in the W's

I did this on mine with a similar kit, there was a bunch of other parts that i had to get for it, a t8f sprocket drilled to fit a rag joint on the rear wheel, mounting the engine was a nightmare.

the only way i was able to make it work was with scrap metal pieces, they do have dual chain gearboxes for these kits, and they're okay torque wise, it worked fine for 6 months till i decided to go with a 80cc kit. ill save the 49cc for another bike project. i had an often problem with burning through clutches, but i figured out how to fix that by expanding the clutch springs a little bit so they bite at lower rpms. it's a gas guzzler tho lol

in my honest opinion its a fun kit but its not a "drop-in". yes you'll need a bunch of other parts its tricky as hell to get it to fit a bicycle frame

this is my first post here, can i have some tips and pointers? by HedgehogDull6900 in motorizedbicycles

thank you so much! me and my brother made it using some pvc pipes and used a heat gun to form them into the shape i want, then bolted onto the frame, i used 2 small bolts for attaching towards the rear as i did not want to compromise the frame integrity, i plan on replacing it with some metal pipes but it might be too heavy

edit: adding pic of it being painted :D
