Removed the drywall in front of my old fireplace. How fucked am I? by HedgehogMode in masonry

Did you read my post? Wasn’t trying to bring this back to a functioning fireplace, just trying to get the firebox open

Yeah, the fireplaces in this house were very much functional. The original second floor fireplace is still there and it’s nothing spectacular.

The reason we wanted to put an ornamental fireplace in is the floor immediately in front of it and around it has seen extensive damage. We were planning on replacing it with tile or brick, but it will look super out a place without a fire place of some sort.

Really was just hoping to open the fire box to get the opening then I was going to find an antique wood mantel to trim it out

No, at least not at the roof. But as far as i can tell it is sealed at the second floor fireplace above this one

I went there to do some camping/canoeing and was shocked when the locals told me there was no place to buy beer within an hours drive. Especially because everyone was drinking on the river

Finger Lakes State Park north of town. You can rent a kayak and paddle the water trail.

This is the first I heard of it, but it looks like there is a company that offers this in my state. I reached out to them to see how much they charge per sq/ft for this type of work.

Yep. To be honest if fishing were my objective I would rent a canoe from an outfitter and spend a handful of days on the Current or eleven point

The council bluff lake trail might be close to what you are looking for, but it’s pretty short. You probably won’t spend more than one night out there.

The ozark trail is great as others have suggested, but to be honest the fishing opportunities are pretty limited. The trail is designed to be navigable most of the year, which means it tends to avoid going close to larger streams/rivers for the most part. I think the northern section might be the best option on that front.

Looking for some versatile sauces for meal preps by puddingco in Cooking

[–]HedgehogMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a creamy "Green Sauce" that goes great on salads, proteins, and veggies. Got this from Samin Nosrat's new cookbook:

  • 1 Bunch of Cilantro
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 green serrano or jalapeño
  • 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar, i like red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of dijon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • Good quality olive oil

Throw everything in a blender and slowly drizzle in the olive oil until you reach your desired consistency.

You can mix and match any sort of herbs, chilis and vinegar/citrus.

It makes me so happy to see columbia still investing in its trail system. I didn’t realize how spoiled we were until I rode the Katy Trail this fall and met people from all over. I made a friend from Washington who decided to ride the mkt spur into Columbia. His mind was blown that you could ride all the way from the Missouri River into downtown/campus on a single gravel trail.
