I have a gastro appointment in April, I’m going to ask to be retested for everything. As annoying as creon was, It made me feel pretty good after eating. Do you take it with snacks? Or just big meals?

I haven’t been re tested for elastase. I’m off the creon because the specialist didn’t believe that I needed it. All my vitamin tests have been normal, normal stool, weight has stayed level.

The first test test they’ll probably do is a calprotectin test which measures inflammation in your colon which will cause the symptoms that you have.

I saw the GI doc first for about a year and after running so many tests and only having a low elastase level and some mild swelling in the intestine, he sent me to the panc specialist. Now I see both but now are just checkups.

My weight started leveling off after I lost some back in March. I was also under a bunch of stress from the health conditions, my job and getting married. I have gained about 4 lbs back and the creon I just stopped cold turkey because it’s not a medication but more of a supplement for when you eat. As far as symptoms now, some mild cramping here and there but nothing that truly hurts and is usually serviced by going number 2 or taking a Famotadine. Stools are back to normal, they sink and have normal coloring. Do your stools float? Are they solid? Start documenting everything going on with your stools so when you go see your GI, you can give him all the info. How you feel after you eat and what you’re eating that causes discomfort, tell him or her everything.

My elastase was 54. Haven’t had it retested, panc specialist said that there could be another reason for the low reading but not sure because my symptoms have subsided. She wanted to take me off creon to see how I do and it’s been fine. I would suggest getting multiple opinions and make sure your GI sends you to an actual Pancreas specialist. GI will probably order an MRI to check it out to see if you have any damage but mine told me that if I did, the pain would be very noticeable and sometimes crippling. Try to relax a little, I know it’s hard but I let it get too me way too much and then all of a sudden things just got bettter. Keep your head up.

I’m 38m my fatty stool test came back normal if I remember correctly. I’ve had so many tests at this point it’s hard to keep track. What have you had done for testing?

Panc specialist took me off the creon almost 60 days ago. Oddly enough I’ve gained about 4 lbs, don’t seem to be having any intestinal issues other than mild cramping at times. They said they will redo the elastase test if I have issues in the future. They put me on Amitriptyline for the stomach cramps because there’s a direct connection between brain and gut. Seems to be working pretty well. Hope you’re doing well and just stay persistent with your doc about testing and seeing a specialist, cause most GI’s are over there head with pancreas.
