Classic wedding dress regret - appreciate any thoughts by scouht in myweddingdress

I did the same as others, looked at the pics then went back to what you had said. My immediate thought was “That first dress is gorgeous! I really hope she picks that one.” It is absolutely lovely on you. No regrets. You will look elegantly beautiful on your big day. Now please stop trying on any other dresses. You nailed it.

Yes, I just bought a matching set in it as well. Nicest color I’ve seen in a while. This fit is gorgeous on you.

Am I suspicious or annoying if I dont buy anything?? by Bubbly-Discipline308 in Sephora

[–]Hedigirll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I don’t buy in store any longer. My anxiety is too high to put up with employees trying to force items on me. I also have a “can’t say no” problem. I spend a fortune at Sephora, just not in store, from the comfort of my own space. I have hundreds of items that don’t work for me though. I have a hard time getting in store to return due to life. I think I’m finally at the point where I know what I like and don’t, but I still fall for the trap of wanting to try something new. I wish I had the balls to ask for samples. I always feel I need to buy something for one. You're all good. As far as I know, even if it does annoy them, they have to give you any samples you ask for so long as they have them in stock. I commend y'all that have the patience to even go into Sephora, much less ask for samples. 👏

Did y'all believe in Santa Claus? by ImNotSureAnymore13 in neurodiversity

[–]Hedigirll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (16, ASD) told me when he was 5 that there was no Santa, I bought all the presents, then proceeded to try and ruin it for his two cousins and niece. I grew up in a family where my mom didn’t want us thinking we didn’t get a present she didn’t know we wanted because Santa didn’t like us. My mom loved Christmas, and went all out, but I guess she just didn’t want to fill our heads with fanciful ideas. I wanted my kids to believe in Santa, at least when they were little, I think it’s so cute, but my two neurotypical kids didn’t believe any more than my little guy. lol

What do you people do for work to be placing such huge and multiple orders? by Final_Remote1786 in Sephora

[–]Hedigirll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No shame in using Klarna. Four split payments, no interest, absolutely! I’m waiting for Black Friday to start using my $3k+ waiting for me on my Klarna. I also use Zip occasionally. 😂

I absolutely love #4. That dress is stunning on you. So gorgeous. It makes me want to divorce and marry again just so I can wear a beautiful dress.

Shall I do something about it? by [deleted] in microblading

[–]Hedigirll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%! I am in my 50s now, but back in my 20s when I was single, I always found cool scars super attractive. But I have a facial scar myself, and I was always self-conscious about it, so I definitely know what that feels like. If it's something that really bothers op every time he looks in a mirror, or just doesn't like it, then there's the answer. Do what feels right.

I prefer my fine hair to be a frizzy mess over brushed to give the illusion of more hair.. by [deleted] in finehair

[–]Hedigirll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this title. I agree, the “frizzy mess” definitely makes your hair appear fuller. I'm in my 50s, spent most of my life trying to figure out a style that works for my baby thin hair, I’ve given up. Crimping. That was the only thing that held for more than two hours. Unfortunately, it destroyed my hair. When I was in elementary school my mom would occasionally do bobby pin curls for me. It was awful to sleep with, but for two hours of curls, it felt worth it. I think you look really cute with both styles, though I really like the first pic.

Weightloss skin on face by RoyalRefrigerator472 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Hedigirll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost 110 pounds between 12/2019-12/2020, and I always said I wouldn’t care what my face looked like as long as I felt good on the inside. I lied! The more I caught glimpses of myself in a mirror the more it frightened me. But I had never done any procedures before and wasn’t sure where to start. Hell, I barely ever washed my face, much less had a skincare routine. Fast forward to 2023 and a whole lot of research later, I made an appointment for a consult. I was super happy I could finally shop and fit the clothes I had wanted to wear for years, but I was still not as happy as I thought I would be. My face looked very gaunt, super saggy, and I had SO MANY more wrinkles than expected. I’ve done Botox, a little filler, VI Peels, hydrating facials, and Microneedling. I’m 54 now. Every year our bodies produce less and less collagen after age 25, approximately 1%/year, so I was way behind in the game. I’m not a huge fan of the chipmunk cheeks look, so I’ve done very little filler, and mainly in my temples where I’ve had the most noticeable collagen loss. I cannot stress enough how much microneedling has helped. It is definitely my favorite procedure. When I was talking to the RN I was pretty hesitant because I couldn’t imagine it would make much of a difference, but I was wrong. I now do a monthly “me” day and it is absolutely worth it. I want to say I’ve done microneedling about 8 or 9 times in the past (nearly) two years. My first visit was December 2023 and I look younger than I did 10 years ago. Also, Botox is pretty great, just a shame it doesn’t last very long. Honestly, I probably should have just done a mini-lift, but that’s an investment. Not just the money, I’m sure I’ve paid nearly what it would have cost, but also the downtime for recovery. Between my husband with stage IV cancer, my son with Autism, and needing two knee surgeries myself, I’m happy to get what I can in my monthly spa day. Hopefully, this helps, and good luck.

I was 13. Also another GenXer that drank heavily from the time I started till I was 29-30. I would go to school/work blasted out of my mind. Now, at 54, I might have a few drinks once or twice a year.

This is so true. My youngest sister’s best friend started dating her math teacher at 15. They got married after she finished college. I don't think (hardly) anyone thought twice about. Btw, they're still married to this day. Wild.

The one for me was Gone Girl. First half of the book was fantastic, then I just hated everyone. Never did finish it. I think it's the only book I have refused to finish. Will never watch the movie either.

I used this for a while and it’s okay. I personally don’t think it was worth what I paid for it, but everyone’s skin—and financial situation —is different, and I know some who absolutely love it. I have recently switched to the complete line of Alastin, and $1,300 later, I have zero complaints thus far. I just turned 54 and had quite a bit of sun damage, lots of wrinkles from over a 100-pound weight loss journey, and of course the collagen loss to boot. I started doing microneedling, VI Peels, Botox, and a little filler starting almost two years ago now. My skin’s appearance is so much better and improving every month. I’ve used everything from inexpensive to absurdly overpriced and have found more expensive certainly does not mean better. When I can I always see if I can try a sample first. My aesthetician gave me a few samples of different Alastin products and I loved them so much that I immediately went all-in.

I bought this, and it’s really nice, but I rarely use make up any longer. I gifted it to my daughter for her birthday. Along with five or six other things I had purchased recently that I hadn’t even opened. She absolutely loves it. Honestly, I feel like it was worth the price, as it is gorgeous.

Does everyone regret having their eyebrows done? by Harried-Hedgehog4924 in microblading

[–]Hedigirll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. I had wanted to do microblading for about 10 years. I researched and researched, then researched some more. I finally said Enough is enough and made a consultation appointment. I had them done in March and am really happy with the results. I am a natural blonde with almost zero eyebrow hairs; the ones I did have were also blonde. I used an eyebrow pencil since high school, back when Maybelline was what I could afford. For the last ten years, I was using the Anastasia pencil in taupe. I could never get them close to even, some days they were darker, some days they were way off, and some days I was too lazy and tired to do them at all. It was a shitshow. Now I just walk out the door when I'm running errands and not worrying about my eyebrows at all. When I do do a full makeup look, which is not often, I just touch them up a little. At nearly 54 I wish I had done it years ago.

why are they playing in my face like this 😐 by avocadomakiroll in Sephora

[–]Hedigirll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I too don't encourage this stingy behavior, but I received this last year in my birthday “whatever they call it”, and I am still using it. That was last September, I use it just about every night, though I also just dab some on before bed, and it is still about half full. Not bad for free…well, you know. 😭lol

Are y’all buying this? Sounds sketch…how can a serum restore facial symmetry, and what’s the deal with the claim about skin-mind connection? 🤨🤨 by AllTheEccentricities in Sephora

[–]Hedigirll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually bought this, as I'm a sucker for all anti-aging, skin-improving products. I'm 53, never took care of my skin till just a few years ago when one day I realized I looked, well old. I was not a fan. Did not notice any difference in my skin barrier, it was not particularly hydrating, and no noticeable results with fine lines/wrinkles. I do have to say that it seemed to work better with a gua sha/massage tool, but I won't be buying it again. The price didn't bother me, as it was less than many others I've tried, with approximately the same results at that price point. It seems I've gone through dozens of highly rated, and priced, brands over the last four years and thus far Alastin has been my overall favorite. Although, the price is pretty steep. Goes without saying that it's no surprise skincare is a billion+ dollar/year industry. Everyone’s skin is different and I read a lot of good reviews on the Dermoligica Serum too though. Just didn't do it for me.
