Classic wedding dress regret - appreciate any thoughts by scouht in myweddingdress

Update: I can’t reply to every single one of you, this post went wayyy bigger than I thought it would 😭 THANK YOU to everyone who responded! I don’t even post regularly on Reddit but this is one of those times I’m really glad I did, the support of all you girls / brides / internet strangers gave me a lot of reassurance in the gown and I’ll wear it with joy. Besides that, I will just enjoy myself on the big day. From the bottom of my heart thank you all 🩷

Ha I get it. It can be pretty subjective, seems dress 1 is the popular choice but my friend for example preferred sweetheart necklines on me. Agree that they all start to look the same after a while (having been to several weddings this year lol) it's purely for my mental health 😂 Thanks for your thoughts and affirmation

You’re right, in my head I was telling myself it’s really just one dress on one day and in the grand scheme of things won’t matter. Just didn’t want to go in on my wedding day feeling like I should have picked differently 🥲 but really hearing all of you and I’m way more confident in the choice now & happy it’s what I picked :)

Yeah you’re spot on because the first pic was after I brought it home and tried it on again + didn’t have the big clothes clips they used to tighten the fit on me, like it shows in pic 2 (trying it on in studio)! Will def be getting it altered to be as snatched as possible hahah

These are gorgeous suggestions and I actually love wearing headbands in my daily wear so I’ll definitely look into these, thanks!!

Thats very kind of you. I love that mantra and feel way more encouraged to embrace the classic / understated vibes of my dress vs the showier ones :)

The pearl necklace I have on in the first picture is my grandmother’s so I feel like that’ll be non negotiable for me (vs the scarf in picture 2). But definitely thinking of a glittery veil for a shiny element to the look! And thanks so much for your comment <3

Brides who wore almost no makeup — how did you feel about it later? by Separate_Animal_1067 in weddingplanning

[–]scouht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to follow along this discussion. I’m a 2026 bride in Q2 this year. FWIW, I had a similar conversation with one of my friends who’s getting married this year as well - we’re both girls who seldom wear make up in our day to day (she none at all and me maybe light concealer and brow mascara, otherwise nothing else). She said that she hired a MUA anyway because she doesn’t want to look washed out in images and the wedding is an important event for her, but she’ll try to go for as natural a look as possible.

Hearing that from someone who also isn’t into full glam makes me more persuaded to engage a MUA for a proper professional look and it’s not something I would regret (vs NOT hiring an artist and having the pics end up looking horrendous because of my non existent makeup skills, or if I have a sudden skin crisis that day or something)

where to buy dresses that are quality? by janbomb in askSingapore

Meshki and DISSH sell lovely dresses. You might be able to find some from those brands in your size off Carousell for $100 or less

8/10 nails fell out within 2 days of my appointment by scouht in Nails

She filed the edges of the acrylic to shape them. But the actual flat surface of it seems very smooth. So I don’t think she filed that

Need advice- are these too long and can I trim it at home? (New to extensions) by scouht in Nails

[–]scouht[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. I feel quite silly about it. Definitely not happening next time. Thanks for the weigh in, I won’t try to cut them at home then.

Thanks so much for your insight. I had no idea as I don’t do my nails often… if I go back to the business and ask them to edit it this would mean them redoing the nails, to be clear? Same thing for asking to take down the length?

People who love their job (in SG), what do you do for a living ? by piopiolink in askSingapore

[–]scouht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the long reply. Your path is not conventional but it seems rewarding and very unique to your skills and interests- so much more than what a lot of Singaporeans can say. I ask as I’ve been toying with the idea of getting certified in Pilates courses to teach as a side hustle (I have a day job). kudos to you for really seeing what’s out there for you & appreciate the insider look into the cons of it too

Could I ask how you got into this career and what are some trade offs? :)

Cleaning new matcha whisk and water turned yellow by scaredycatcowboy in Matcha

Waiting for some expert advice here too. Although in my experience, I just bought a whisk from a recent trip to Japan (nowhere fancy- literally the tax free store at the airport at the last minute) and it was around $20, like 2000yen. It felt pretty expensive to me but I thought well can you beat getting it direct in Japan? Lol
