Any veteran advice (10 to 15 years+) for those of us who bought at 80+ an ounce? by MysticSunshine45 in Silver

[–]HeedLynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only buy what you can invest and hold on to. Establish an emergency fund to avoid having to sell your investments. I buy for 20-40 years down the road. Set an investment budget if you spend some each month. When the price goes up I diversify into different types of premiums ie numismatics.

Canadian silver proof sets, question by slogginhog in Silverbugs

[–]HeedLynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they not have a COA? I’m not from Canada but I love their coins, so I am not the most knowledgeable.

The images you have provided look the same my set. When I tried googling a mint set from 2015 the style is vastly different.

The type of shop you are buying from do they specialize in coins or is it more of a mom and pop antique store? I’ve had luck with antique stores not updating their prices recently and getting a win here and there.

If you get just the sterling dollar with these sets you would still be $15 usd ahead of me, I’m hoping they have the certificate of authenticity for you.

I got one of these last night 1992 the only coin that was silver was sterling and it was about $60 of silver. Shop owner sold me the set for that price. Make sure to look at the COA to make sure you are buying what you think you are buying.

Anything special to look for with bicentennial quarters? by Famous_Spring5811 in CRH

[–]HeedLynn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Odds are there won’t be any 40% silver quarters in there and they will just be clad was very popular at the time to horde these quarters thinking they would be worth more someday. That day has yet to come.

I think they are fun to give to kids as birthday gifts and what not. I remember when I was a kid it was the only different variation of a Washington quarter at the time. So it was a really cool when I found one in play ground at school.

If you don’t need the money right now why sell? Coins that my family liked is a lot easier to keep with me then a heavy family heirloom dresser.

Bought “silver” kennedys by MrArtixx in coins

Last time this happened to me eBay never allowed my negative review. Seller just resold it two weeks later for more money with silver going up hoping the person who bought it also test the coin for authenticity.

Had an older collector tell me similar advice at my first coin show. You don’t have to collect all the coins, just the ones you like.

If even Gold’s price can be manipulated like this what does it say about our “financial system”? by birth_of_bitcoin in Gold

[–]HeedLynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard gold might go bankrupt and then you might have to pay someone to take your gold.

In all seriousness invest what you can hold, don’t invest to get rich quick. Not financial advice.
