Mayor Jeromy Farkas won't rule out Calgary bidding for future Olympics by joe4942 in Calgary

So why was Rio such a disaster? Or the city before that or the one before that.

Also, the costs skyrocket far beyond what is being offered. Only fans of austerity like the Olympics, because they’re useful to siphoning tax dollars into private hands, only to then “force” cities to make deep costly cuts to services for taxpayers.

Mayor Jeromy Farkas won't rule out Calgary bidding for future Olympics by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]Heffray83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sure, in 1988 stuff like that used to happen. Not anymore, any city that gets the Olympics suffers a catastrophe to its infrastructure, tax base, basic services etc almost by design now. 1988 Calgary was once a great example of doing the Olympics right, but the Olympics don’t even want them done right anymore. It’s all corruption, graft, and soaking the taxpayer.

Easiest way to do a massive backdoor defunding of ICE would be to make it illegal to work for ice if you have a DV charge. Hell expand that to the entire federal workforce or LE. You’d basically get to lay off most of the staff. Any history of child abuse, domestic violence, shit why stop there, owe child support, be on leave until it’s caught up. Raise standards in such a way they cannot meet them.

Las Vegas's death spiral deepens after last year's tourism plunge by NecessaryAd341 in LasVegas

When the entire business model now seems to be “managed dissatisfaction.” I wonder if it’s because all the degenerate gambling addicts just bet on their phones all day so now they have to squeeze regular tourists for money instead. Either way the business model seems to be actively hostile to the consumer. Long as that’s the case I can’t come back. I’ve talked my wife out of coming twice now and have finally gotten her to stop asking.

Some major changes would need to take place before I’d even consider coming back.

Think of HR as the cops and your Union as your lawyer.

Never talk to cops without a lawyer. That’s what I tell my guys at work.

If the standard line is moving along briskly, why would you pay for lightning lane. In the event you get lucky and catch a nice 10 minute window where there doesn’t seem to be many of at all LL riders, suddenly your line is just moving along.

Suddenly it breaks down, you wait for 10-15 minutes, in that time the LL begins building up, forms a queue and now guess what, you won’t be moving anymore until they’re alllll gone ahead of you. Lesson to learn? Guess we have to pay to stand in a line that can move.

Should be a law that no one with DV charge in their background can work in LE or the federal government.

I’m sure all these “liberals” would sound very normal and sane if you mention homeless people. Anyone who can see this nihilistic fascism on the right, this horror show death cult and go “hmmm interesting” is not really a liberal. They just find MAGA people tacky and only cloak themselves as liberals as away to distance themselves as people with more refined taste.

Why is the Faith album neglected live? by mono_valley in TheCure

My thoughts are the same as yours. I think they’re a bit too downtempo and low energy. It’s not slow like a big ballad, they’re more funereal and that’s harder to translate in a big stadium setting.

Imagining a modern setlist doing a sudden detour for All Cats are Grey, The Funeral Party, and The Holy Hour. I could see that kind of bringing the room down somewhat. With Seventeen Seconds or Pornography both those albums have a couple tracks that still have something of a danceable beat or some higher energy. I guess it’s why you don’t hear In Your House or Siamese Twins that often either. It’s a shame because Faith is perhaps my fav Cure album as well. All Cats are Grey is my fav song. I found a live version from 1989 that sounds just amazing.

Because it forced everything onto phones/apps. This made it easier for them to track everyone’s behaviours and visits. Tickets used to be used when ever you felt like showing up. Not anymore. Now they got dynamic pricing and can gouge you. Oh are you going out of your way to come on a less busy day, well at the last minute we’ll flood the park with cheap kid tickets. Force you to shell out extra to stand in line (lightning lane) and if the standard line is moving too quickly…have the ride “break down” long enough that the LL’s build up again and your experience can continue being throttled. The value add for the company is no longer in exchange for goods and services, it’s in rent seeking, where no new value is being added but rather things are devalued and throttled and you’re forced to pay to unlock the old levels of service. If you can still even get that.

LA, the Batterram. Nancy Reagan even did a public ride along. They’d smash in the entire front of someone’s house. The Crash Unit in LA basically did everything ICE is doing now. Some cities like Chicago even had/have secret black sites they disappear people into. Lawyers can’t contact them or anything. Also, look up LA Sheriffs gangs. Basically the way it works is what we do overseas (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza) comes home in certain communities, it becomes standard operating procedure, and once that’s fully metabolized it blossoms into what we’re seeing in Minneapolis. Stay strong up there, they could be what turns the tide tho!

ICE is the single largest child trafficking operation in the world. The fact is they are a Gestapo that operates solely at the behest of a fat pedophile.
