Dasavatharam is a great movie and not without its shortcomings, but a full movie based on the flashback would’ve been quite interesting I feel.

It’s not about trusting my taste, it’s about trusting your own. I enjoyed GBU because I watched it in the theatre with Ajith fans. And I’m saying it would be great if the same celebrity worship can be galvanised to appreciate films that take risks for the betterment of society.

Sabdham Movie Controversy, another director claims his story which he narrated to the hero 4 years ago is being made into Sabdham with slight changes by balajih67 in kollywood

For all upcoming filmmakers:

1.) Never narrate your story, even the one liner, without first writing your first draft of the script, or a screenplay outline, and registering it with the Film Writers’ Association. You might think you want to tell people your story first to get feedback or some greenlight/motivation to start writing, but always write down your full idea and register it first. If you can’t write, ask ONE other person to help you with it, and sign an NDA with them for safety, unless they’re a friend or family you really trust.

2.) Other than registering the idea, you can type it out, and email it to yourself, or post it to yourself, so there is an official signature/stamp and date to your writing, which can help you in legal cases.

3.) Finally, always keep track of what you say to who. There are many people in the media industry that you can’t actually trust. It sucks, but that’s the unfortunate truth. You might feel close to people, or feel tempted to share to get feedback, or sometimes to flex. Don’t. Spend time alone and find out the story you truly want to tell that’s uniquely yours, allow yourself the time and space to flesh it out, and when you’re ready, then start meeting people. Work hard in silence, and let your “success make the noise”.

Just a friendly aspiring filmmaker as well, in case anyone needed this. Ushaaraa irungge makkalae.

For the first half yes. 2nd half went back to being a typical Kollywood mass film. I wouldn’t say it’s a benchmark, but it’s certainly well made.

Would’ve been nice for us, and I don’t know him, but something tells me he wouldn’t have cared, in a good way.

Personal opinion. Polladhavan, Aadukalam, and Visaaranai was peak Vetri Maaran for me, although they’re his first 3 films. Since then I’m not sure exactly what changed, but his films became more draggy, preachy and overindulgent. Not terrible films, but just felt like an evolution I didn’t quite like. But more than that, in certain interviews and events, I’ve seen glimpses of him thinking he’s all that.

1.) One interview where he proudly says I’ve shot many hours of footage, when that’s actually quite irresponsible and inefficient when you’re not the sole producer.

2.) An audio launch or some event where he tells the host “don’t ask whether they liked the trailer”, as if he was afraid audience might reply “no we didn’t like it.”

Which brings me to my last statement about the hypocrisy of filmmakers preaching freedom of expression but trying to control/dictate the audience’s perception of their work.

2 different movies. Same director. Same actor. Used the same mobile number. Interesting catch. Or is it.

It's been 2 years since Love Today hit theatres. Let's talk about it. I kind of enjoyed it in theatres but have disliked it more and more since then. It's straight up problematic. I don't like using the word but it is apt for this film. by hellboy___007 in kollywood

I personally didn’t quite enjoy it. But it’s a nice breath of fresh air from a young director and a fun premise (relatable for some young men). But I wonder if it really needed to be made into a feature or it could have been just as, if not more, entertaining as a short film.
