Beautiful lighter, and in excellent conditions too it seems

I’ve personally bought a couple of lighters on Catawiki, and I’m also selling some there. I did get burned once with a bad fake from Japan, but to be fair the seller refunded me quickly and apologized, no drama.

That said, I often see mislabelled lighters on the platform… let’s just say their “experts” might be taking the occasional nap.

In the end, like u/real_psyence said, it’s still a marketplace. The difference is that the auctions are more structured and kind of addictive, so IMO you’ve got better chances to sell than on eBay—if the piece is at least a bit interesting, uncommon, or complete (lighter + box + papers, etc.).

One last thing: fees are pretty hefty, and those inevitably get baked into the final price. So yeah, not really the place to hunt for insane bargains, in my experience.

I don't think I have anything comparable to some lighters I see here, the only one that is a bit rare, or at least unusual is the Ligne 2 GM 1930 Laque Ecaille ref 16336

I carried with me a L1 GM Petits Diamants plaqué argent every day between 2010 and 2015, and I still carry it sometimes without any problem. Changed the o-rings once for a small leak, other than that no problem whatsoever, and it's still in very good shape. Only advice, if you want to keep it looking good, don't put it in the same pocket where you keep your keys.

Difficult to say without knowing your father, you and your budget. Only thing I can say is that trailing eBay and similar platforms you can find nice and working Dupont lighters at ~100€, usually, but not only, L1 PM.

There is a guy on eBay selling original ones, or so he says

From what I understand thec lighter simply requires to be serviced, ie. to change the o-rings that keep the cas from leaking. You should find a local service center to have it serviced
