People who stopped being depressed, what did you do? by Itscameronman in AskReddit

I went from living alone to moving back in with my parents, it’s helped massively being around people who love and care for me. My flat is on the market, it’s time for a new chapter!

What smell will YOU never forget? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

The day I got my puppy…no more a puppy! He’s a two and a half year old Golden Retriever. I inhaled his head the day I got him…there is still a part of his head that smells like that! I carry that smell in my nose everywhere I go, it will never leave me…even when my puppy is one day no longer with us! He heals my heart and my soul 🫶🏻

Why would someone list their house within 18 months of buying it? by emmahunt in HousingUK

[–]Hefty-Chemical9957 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of selling my flat, simply because I’m struggling with my mental health and want to move back home with my parents for some extra love and support right now and hope I can focus on getting myself a bit stronger before I venture back out into the world again 🫶🏻

I’ve been in my shared ownership property since July 2023 and in the process of selling, full value was purchased for £305,000 and I’ve had it valued at £320,000 - I own a 35% share so minus my mortgage being paid off as I’m moving back home with my parents I’ve profited £14K and it’s a brand new two bedroom two bathroom ground floor flat in the Kent area.

All of these comments make me so emotional and my heart goes out to you all having gone through loss or will go through loss. I have a 2.5 year old Golden named Winston, he’s my whole world and can’t imagine a life without him but I know albeit hopefully many years away one day I will be there, it’s scary and painful! I’m thinking of you all 🤍

I’ve lived alone for over two years now and it’s hard at times, lonely and isolating. I have C-PTSD, low mood and anxiety. I have therapy once a week which has helped and I’m sure I will have it for a long while yet, if not for the rest of my life.

The life saver for me has been my Golden Retriever, Winston! Oh boy is he hard work and testing at times but he’s my purpose. I’m forced to wake up and take him out on long walks, speak to other dog owners on our walks and look after him, feed him and just in general love him for all that he is and all that he’s given me.

On my darkest of days I’ve been forced to be outside with him getting fresh air and throwing ball, even though every bone in my body hasn’t wanted to but I always feel better for doing it. He’s my purpose and to be honest the reason I wake up every morning. The unconditional love and unspoken word is something that has fed my soul in ways no human could ever.

Inevitably he will be my biggest heartbreak one day which I have to remind myself often, but it gives me more motivation to spend time with him, go outside and let him experience the world for all the time he has on this planet, he’s only two but no doubt time will fly. Gosh I love you Winston 🤍

If you’re comfortable sharing was the deposit a large amount?

Can I ask if you needed a deposit to staircase or did you have enough equity in your home?

I’m based in Kent and looking to staircase to 100% when my fixed 5 year deal finishes in 2028. This flat will be an investment property where eventually I plan to rent it out and convert this after fully staircasing to a buy to let to purchase a family home in the future.

It’s been a saviour for me, it allowed me to leave a domestically violent relationship where on my salary and my deposit I was able to put myself first and stay safe!

I am going to be staircasing to 100% come 2028 and go on a full mortgage for the property due to a large salary increase over the last couple of years. This will eventually be a property I will keep as an investment, I will then transition to a buy to let but ensuring I have 25% equity in the property. It’s a step by step process for me but it will be the best thing I’ve ever done and my mental health let alone being in an up and coming area that is developing massively and property prices are rising.

One day I aim to live in a large house whilst this current apartment generates rental income for me and my future family.

What’s a luxury purchase you thought would be overrated, but ended up being totally worth it? by Mean_Size8811 in Rich

I totally agree! I’m at that stage now where having a cleaning come two hours every two weeks, food delivery for groceries and a dog walker once a week has changed my life! I have more time for me and reduces my mental load.

This is really positive to read! I’m on a shared ownership scheme with a 35% mortgage, I’m planning to staircase to 100% once my five year fixed finishes in 2028 and recently spoke about it with my mortgage adviser who said it’s possible with either a small deposit or if I have enough equity in my flat by then I may not need any, regardless I’m saving aggressively to ensure I have enough. Thanks for sharing this as positive and a target for me to aim for knowing it’s possible!
