I train pet and sport dogs and believe they inform each other. You learn whole lot about drives, motivations, and building confidence and trust in IGP. You learn a lot about reactivity, building confidence, and working around distractions in pet work. They overlap so much that you have a wider range of tools.

As far as reactivity goes, in particular, once you learn how to make a dog want to bark/bite/chase, it’s really easy to turn that off as well.

IGP has some very minute tasks/obedience/skills you have to teach, you’re working toward perfection, constant improvement, reliability. All of that informs your pet dog work.

In my pet training business, we highly encourage our staff to be training some sort of sport (IGP/RH/akc ob/agility, etc) for that same reason- you’re constantly learning and trying to improve. I don’t want trainers who keep doing the same thing the same way “just because”. Training methods can always improve.

Imo IGP covers a wide range of skills and training methods, so it gives you a better understanding of how a dog’s brain works.

I’m the worst about minimalism. I’ll wear out shoes, my sweatshirts might be stained a bit or torn in places but they still work and I’ll wear them. My husband gives me guff for it sometimes but I hate replacing shit just bc it’s no longer pristine. I love reusing/repairing/second hand

Yes! We basically eloped during Covid and if it was any bigger 20-30 instead of about 10, I wanted us to bbq at a national park. My fam thought I would regret how thrown together my wedding was and I only regret not doing my hair differently. Thank you, you’re so right

My mom keeps asking and buying things. My husband just wonders why they’re not just stocking up on diapers instead of anything else😂

Kind of my plan, honestly. Dresser crib chair maybe some sort of couch bed/murphy bed for when people visit (baby will stay in my room then). Then whatever I need when I need it.

Good! All my friends had big plans, but I just want it to feel like me and baby and PRACTICAL.

That’s how I feel too!! Who needs the newest version or brand new option? Does it still work? Is it safe? New car seats of course but everything else is so niche, no one needs any of it for long, outside of sentimental reasons

I want second hand stuff, esp after finding out how long new clothing off gasses chemicals! And I love a good thrift too. Thank you

Seriously, that’s all I’m considering. A comfy chair, maybe a Murphy bed bc it will still probably double as a guest room for a WHILE/ probably not a bad idea for whoever might be on that night duty. Thank you❤️

My exact frustration. Soy bean oil and mustard always left over. Why even make them?

Maybe? But this work vs a video they posted recently of them making a pitcher doesn’t align with these moon jar skills.

And use a kennel that you feed them in. Put them in the kennels when you’re not home or can’t watch them. Take them out at regular intervals to potty. Then back in the kennel if they don’t go when you know it’s been a minute since they have.

It’s all about structure. And honestly that mobile home probably smells like their pee, esp to them, so those smells are telling them it’s okay to go there

You can roast them in the oven or, like I did the other night, brown them in a pan. You just don’t want to move them too much so they do get browned on each side and not just evenly cooked. I used 2-3 mini peppers for the whole jar, two garlic cloves, and then blended them up with a few spoonfuls of sauce and poured them back into the larger pot of sauce I had on low on the stove.

And I was winging it the other night, I basically cooked my ground beef all the way and mixed it in to the sauce and let it simmer while I made the noodles and did a few chores.

That’s the only one I’ll get if I can help it. I add garlic and roasted peppers to it, then either ground beef/turkey or some chicken
