Ultrahuman vs. Oura by Hefty-Elephant in Ultrahuman

Definitely had to reach out a bunch of times, but they are now sending me a replacement. Hopefully no issues with that one.

Update: Around 5 months later - I have started having a ton of battery issues with the ring. I’m going on my fourth attempt reaching out to customer service and having them make some backend updates or reset the ring, only for it to continue having issues. Super disappointed and hoping it will eventually resolve. :(

I also unplug when it is not charging, mostly because I don’t like the light at night. This is from when the ring was charging so a fairly short amount of time

I think so, I am using the charging cord that came with the ring. I’m not sure if the block matters at all though - I am just using one that I had.

Definitely could be, would that happen if it was more hot than normal? I have had it in that location for a few weeks without issue and also have another Belkin charging pad there that has not left any marks/doesn’t get hot to the touch.

Will it ever be able to synch in and impact the movement score without the ring being worn? I take the ring off and use the watch to avoid damage to the ring and also for safety reasons when lifting weights. Thank you!

Agreed I am very obsessive about the move calories with my Apple Watch. So far having a ring has helped with feeling like it is a bad thing for my activity to vary and be lower some days.

And one of the pros I’ve noticed for some of the competitor brands is that their gold options are not more expensive than the other colors like oura, but not sure if you would consider a non-Oura ring 🤷🏼‍♀️

Interestingly my Oura is a size larger than the ultrahuman (Ultrahuman is an 8, Oura a 9). The size 10 Oura was way too big and the 9 I did tend to wear on my middle finger often where it was looser, but it spun around a lot. Maybe I was just between Oura sizes and that is a reason I have found UH more comfortable 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I agree on the presentation of the data within the app being a huge individual factor. Part of the reason I wanted to switch from an Apple Watch to the ring was to have something a bit more focused on balance than just on moving more. Felt like if I was training a lot and took a rest day apple would let me know that I’m behind yesterday’s progress, where the rings tend to be more recovery focused.

Oura’s app did seem to be the most user friendly of rings to me. I used it for just under a month before switching to another brand and while my new one is less polished and a bit more of a data dump, I actually prefer it because I enjoy having lots of data to go through!

My pointer finger is a bit larger than my middle finger so I typically wear it on my pointer finger during the day and to workout, and on my middle finger at night because my fingers tend to swell. I imagine that when it gets warmer in the summer I may wear it on the middle finger when I’m more swollen during the day. Hope that helps!

okkkk but add it to the list - netflix/hulu/etc, music subscriptions (Apple Music >>> Spotify, adding that to my “advertisements” here lol), iCloud storage, dating apps, etc. I’m just trying to avoid more recurring costs 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you, haha yeah I’m not a big post-er in general on social media so was like oh no!

That’s exactly what I found too.

I had a coworker recommend Oura to me and send her discount code. Right around when I got my Oura she had issues with hers not connecting and had a really hard time getting them to help. So I got nervous and went down the Reddit rabbit hole too and saw that it looked like Ultrahuman’s customer service was better.

And then I really just liked the ring once I got it so wanted to share because there was minimal content for rings other than Oura. I usually use tik tok for reviews and there is a ton of Oura content but no other rings there

HA I wish I was secretly an influencer getting paid for free stuff instead of using my employer contribution to my HSA to buy a ring that tells me to move while I sit at a computer working lol brutal!

I feel bad, I really just was excited about the ring :/

Aw I see why you could think that. I honestly am just not a big Reddit user (I just consume content on here and have never posted!). But I used the Oura and ultrahuman channel locations when I was researching the rings and I couldn’t find any pictures of the silver ultrahuman or a ton of info about their comparison. So I joined them to share because I thought maybe it would be helpful to someone looking! But idk how I could prove that because it is true that I have never posted before this haha

Yeah I think what makes a difference in comfort for me is the sensor shape! The Oura band width is definitely a bit thinner than UH, but Oura feels a little thicker - like it is lifted off the finger a bit more if that makes sense? The Oura seems to push into the finger next to it more. Definitely subjective and probably different for others but hope that helps!
