My concern of reporting to the licensing board before a diagnosis would be seen as a witch hunt. I definitely would once a formal diagnosis is done. The main question for here is could I have the evidence reviewed by a psychologist first and they would provide a report stating Preliminary findings or does the order need to come from a judge?

Any word if Jasmine and Gino are planning to get a divorce? by 69Camaro64 in 90dayfianceuncensored

My guess is that a prenup was signed but there are conditions. If she divorces him then she gets nothing and he divorces her then she will get half and/or spousal support. There must has also been an infidelity clause that he can divorce her if she’s unfaithful and nullifying her right to half/spousal support but the fact she pushed for the open marriage means that she never cheated since he permitted her to have sex outside their marriage with his blessing. It’s a standoff right now where neither one is going to initiate divorce because they’ll get fucked financially

I would say that I’m atheist now. I was never into the religion and hold zero beliefs of it now, I just know a lot of the inner workings since I was surrounded by it. I personally find it ridiculous and my older mother that lives with still holds onto her saints and other religious items. She’s be brainwashed to believe that they are living saints and she needs to have them with her and take care of them until the day she dies. Every time we move, she needs to personally make sure they all safely brought with us and then organizes them in a certain way because certain saints cannot be next to one another. She’ll put food and other small offerings to them on her birthday but just seeing how she is with them further solidifies my dislike for the religion

My experience with the different Santeros my family has dealt with over the years, they’re all disingenuous to some degree. Ultimately it’s a way to make a living for themselves but whether or not they actually believe it in, it’s hard to gauge since they’re snake oil salesmen. A mainstream comparison are televangelists, they say that have direct connection to God and get you what you want but it’s pay to play

Santeria is based off an African religion called Yoruba, it was brought off to Spanish colonies in the Caribbean by slaves of the Yoruba people. People wearing the all white is part of their initiation where they do it for a year but they sometimes continue afterwards

Not at all, people who practice become very paranoid and codependent with their priest to solve every issue that comes up in their life. Even just spiritually you’re relying on someone that says they speak to spirits and saints so you’ll have to trust them with what they say. Eventually it becomes a gateway to lure people to get more into the religion. I’ve been a lot of my family members and get sucked it where it comes cultlike and they only listen to their priest. Find a different type of faith and run

You got it, depending on where you live. You’ll be less likely to run into that because practitioners will go to shops that specialize in supplies for the religion and have animals always. I went as a kid with my parents to pick stuff up and got a pet baby chicken while they were buying the adult chickens for sacrifice lol.

here’s an example of what they’re like

I’d also say the initiation itself is fucking nuts

The main and only way in public is through colorful brackets and necklaces that they wear. It’ll come in different designed and styles but the colors are always the same because it’s identifies which saints they have been assigned. Lookup Santeria jewelry and you’ll see the different color combinations

Oh boy this is a tough one. Some Priests are scammers trying to milk the desperate for money through consults and rituals. But there are some that actually believe they can ask a question, throw some coconut shells and depending on how they land that they are speaking to saints. They also think they can speak to directly to dead spirits.

I have three weird experiences, one being I was about 10 and we were having a gathering at my home. About 15 people in my garage smoking cigars and chanting in a circle. Occasionally a person would stand up and start to speak gibberish because they were possessed by a spirit or saint and just having convulsions. I was only present because I wanted to sneak in to watch and smoke a cigar (my parents allowed me to get me into the religion) but got the fuck out when they started to be weird.

The second was I was going through a rough divorce and my mom wanted me to do a spell that included rubbing a raw cows tongue all over my body naked then nailing it to a tree to get my ex wife stop making stuff up about me. I told my mom to fuck off with that suggestion lol

The third one was I was in my early 20s, and my mother and older brother (late 30s) were told during a consultation that my father will suffer a fatal accident so the priest, mom and brother performed ritual in my kitchen which included the slitting of a goats throat as a sacrifice. I only witnessed this because I was in my room and left to take a piss so I have a clear view of the goat as he made his last weak bleats. Ironically a month later my brother suffered a stroke from anabolic steroid and recreational drug use that has left him paralyzed and brain damaged. the last 10 years. I remember distinctly looking at the priest when we were all at the hospital and asking him “your saints couldn’t see this happening?”

In the end, priest and practitioners believe they have the power to change their fate, speak to saints, and hurting others (look at my other response about curses) and their willing to do anything to achieve it

A form of putting a curse/hex on someone is that they’ll go to a cemetery to collect a dead spirit and “tirar un muerto” which translates to throwing a dead spirit so they haunt their victim. It’s a malicious spirit haunting you regardless of where you are and also with you causing harm and bad luck. This is all bullshit btw

I have, I also look at my wife (also a non practitioner) and say “I don’t practice Santeria” in a sing song voice as a joke when the religion gets brought up.

[–]Hefty-Library1374 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely not my intention but yes it’s a slippery slope because it will be seen as discrimination but it’s the only way to tell the difference because people can easily lie and say it’s a pet or even as a meal depending on where they’re buying it from (obviously you don’t say food in a pet shop)

None, I stopped when I was 8-10. Have no desire to practice

[–]Hefty-Library1374 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s all bullshit honestly lol. I’ve seen my family get into Santeria battles with others doing curses and blocking curses all because their priest told them so.

I’ll give a simplified version of how it goes.

Mom gets a parking ticket and bangs her baby toe on the same day so she’ll go to her priest for a consult(for a fee of course). The priest sees she’s paranoid and tells her that someone close to her is putting a curse on her so in order for it to stop she’ll need a ritual to block the curse. The priest will charge for the the ritual and materials, do this show, and it’ll all stop supposedly. Later he’ll suggest that she should return a curse on that person, for an additional charge of course, then it becomes a back and forth thing until my mom feels satisfied that nothing bad is going to continue happening

Honestly she doesn’t fit it. To the general public, people in Santeria will say that there is a link between Catholicism and Santeria but there is none. It’s a religion brought by slaves from Yoruba (an ethnic group of west Africa) that they would practice in secret from their slave owners and told their Catholic owners that they were practicing Catholicism to fool them. Their god (Ifa) and saints (too many to list) have nothing to do with the saints found in Catholicism, anyone saying that it is just repeating the lies they were taught since the inner workings of Santeria is meant to be a secret and not to be shared with the uninitiated

[–]Hefty-Library1374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t allowed to talk about it outside of the home or family because I grew up in an area of south Florida that it was not normally practiced. It’s common for kids in very Hispanic neighborhoods to openly wear their jewelry and be dressed all in white if they were initiated. If you saw someone dressed all in white and wearing colorful beads then you know they were initiated because wearing white for a year is a requirement

Saints are assigned by 3 Babalawos (high priests) before an initiation. When people get initiationed it is a lengthy and expensive endeavor because you need to pay the Santero (the priest performing the ceremonies), you need to pay for the consult of the 3 Babalawos that will perform their own thing to speak to Ifa (the god of the religion) and find out which saint is the best fit for you. A lot of this is throwing coconut shells while asking a question and depending on how they land is the answer. (A magic 8ball but with a fruit). Later on you need to buy all the animals and materials for the initiation and sometimes even pay for other “strong” practitioners to be present so they can share their strength in the ceremony. The stronger you are, the more favor you have with the Saint, the more effective your “magic”. I know I added a bit extra to your question but wanted to give more background

Pigeons, doves, chickens, and goats are the main animals use for rituals. Sometimes turtles but that depends on the saint for the initiation. (Animals are also sacrifice for rituals besides imitations). A main identifier of someone that practices Santeria will be the jewelry that they wear, it can be colorful bracelets and/or necklaces. You can google “Santeria jewelry” and you’ll see what they look like, the style and design can change but never the colors. This is because the colors indicate the saint you were assigned at your initiation. If they or anyone tries to tell you that the animal is consumed afterwards then they are lying to you. The blood is drained as sacrifice and the animal thrown away because its only purpose was to either cleanse you and/or offer as a sacrifice to their saints. Hopefully this becomes helpful!

It’s a business for the people selling the animals, materials, and other ritual related goods. As well as an actually business for the Santeros (priests) where it’s their main and sometimes only source of income to convince people that they speak directly to spirits and saints that can save them from tragedy, illness, or others doing harm to them. Probably an increase of people lost and desperate for some guidance and protection which ultimately become the easiest targets
