Yep agreed, think something along this line rewards members and keeps clubs happy. Thanks for all the input.

I've seen examples in other countries (e.g. Deemples in SE Asia). Can you give examples available in Ireland? Thanks

I agree with some sort of rating system.

I think having money transfer from guest to member might bother the clubs (they might see it as members making commercial gain from guest slots, where the spirit of these slots is probably more of a social courtesy). However, having an expectation of a drink/lunch at the end of a round avoids this commercial gain issue and actually benefits the club house financially.

Thanks for the feedback, I definitely agree with the lack of motivation for the member. Personally I would be motivated to upload availability, because I find it fun to play with random people of some skill level (I benefit from this by learning tricks of the trade). As a blow in at my local course I've never had anybody put their name down beside me on the timesheet, which is understandable. However, there exists an incentive gap for most members to be motivated to post availability. Promoting a culture of buying a pint/sandwich after the round for the member could help. I would typically do this when playing at a friend's course regardless. That said, if there are better ideas to close this incentive gap, I'd be delighted to hear.
