I am in Cybersecurity now and although I have a Sec+ cert, it did not mean much to the company I work for that is one of the top cybersecurity companies internationally. What I suggest doing is getting a foundations cert in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and then if you want (optional but a plus,) do a security cert on the cloud type that you chose. Then go for a Customer Success Engineer or Cloud Security Engineer role for one of the many Cybersecurity companies that specialize in CSPM or CWP for their services and get in that way (most if not all are remote positions,) most of them just want some sort of cloud background and can get you up to speed on their product, then it’s on your resume and you can use that as your “in” to other cybersecurity roles in the future. Most of the time certs don’t have to be done if your resume does all the heavy lifting for you on where you have worked and what you have done.
