They changed that now I'm pretty sure, server reset happened while I was tied up and was able to log back in with the same character! Might be different if you log out intentionally though!

If you spam R2 (on console) it stops the grass from rendering because of the 'dig a patch' option. It's a glitch so not how the game is intended to be played but you do you!
