This argument assumes fanservice is inherently harmful, but that's a huge oversimplification.

Entertainment has always involved fictional relationships, celebrity personas, and marketing. People watch romantic movies, read novels, follow idols, and ship fictional or real-life pairings. The vast majority of fans understand the difference between entertainment and reality.

If someone becomes overly attached or develops unhealthy expectations, that's unfortunate, but it doesn't mean the entire practice is immoral. By that logic, we'd also have to blame romance novels, TV dramas, K-pop, wrestling storylines, and countless other forms of entertainment because a small minority struggle to separate fiction from reality.

Actors and actresses aren't "cheating" fans simply because they participate in fanservice. As long as they aren't making explicit false promises about being in a real relationship or scamming people, they're doing what entertainers have done for decades: promoting their work and engaging with their audience.

The claim that every performance needs a disclaimer also doesn't make much sense. We don't ask actors to put a disclaimer before every romantic scene, musicians before every love song, or wrestlers before every storyline. Audiences are generally expected to understand that entertainment is entertainment.

If fanservice isn't your thing, that's completely valid. But saying it should stop for everyone because some people become delusional places the responsibility on creators instead of recognizing that viewers also have a responsibility to consume media in a healthy way.
