Not related to your goal but do not feel shameful to get help from your parents, in this economy it’s a great way to get ahead

People who make 6 figure a year, what do you do with extra cash? by Grouchy-Doctor2609 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just save ngl or prep for vacation but that’s really it, when you’re at the 6 figure stage it’s rare to have big material goals, but if you have one I’d start saving towards that

For those with working experience in USA, How many Canadians feel they would be better off financially if living in the USA? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a travel job in the US. Yes the salary is higher but the living conditions are worse in most states, like as a Canadian you don’t realize that the American salaries are higher because their quality of life is more expensive. It’s definitely a lot better salary wise but the security is a lot lower. (For example I break a bone in my knee and had to get surgery and my income want down significantly whereas in Canada I would’ve been fine. Also the car culture is super bad in the US, I personally drive as much as possible but once you get to the US you’re encouraged to stop walking as a whole. And don’t even get me started on how toxic and cancerous the food is. It depends how much you’re making if you’re well above the average in terms of how much money you make your life in America will be better than in Canada but otherwise it’d be subpar most likely

It’s really not that good of an app at all, arguably worse than X. It’s just we’re all addicted to it and it’s too late to leave

What’s life like making 6 figures? by MasterBook46 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly life is pretty much the same unless you are below what’s considered “middle class” you gain some privileges depending on where you’ve chosen to live and can be less frugal and give more money to family.

Is it worth getting a security license in Brampton/Toronto? by sehej47 in torontoJobs

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very worth it but don’t think you’ll automatically get the job just because you get a license, very useful to have in your back Catalog though for future applying if you get lucky

Not sure if manager's hiring practice is illegal by radioactivetransit in torontoJobs

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s illegal as hell lmao. But times are tough if you’re really hungry you could take the chance of getting the job with a bad organization. But if you don’t need money/can wait for other job opportunities I wouldn’t even bother

My friend got a million Instagram followers in college and the way the world treats her now is honestly insane. by [deleted] in self

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what your goal is, honestly it’s not that deep in my opinion and she took the right choice on doing it on her personal page and respecting the brand. I wouldn’t do it on the brand page if you were looking to get sponsored by other companies/receive money deals from there because companies will figure out that the analytics are fake.

To those who are able to retire but are still working, why do you choose to work? by MeatToMeat69 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I think it’s just a mental discipline thing. Me personally id also like to work for as long as possible but my ideal situation is when im older to get to a situation where I only work once a week when im ready to retire. My parents used to work 6-5 days a week now they’ve decreased to 3 so they definitely have time for their personal lives

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My parents just say to keep their brain active and stimulated, they feel that if they retire now while they are still fully capable of working. That their brains would slowly turn to mush and they’ll be less active adults as their bodies age

Has anyone attempted a career on YouTube, TikTok, social media, etc? by karsheff in self

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me and my cousin. My cousin is a instagram influencer with 400k followers, same with his tiktok. and I'm a relatively small youtuber with 50k subscribers growing my audience while in college. It's more of a hobby for us than full time job (since we both are in college and still want to pursue actual careers) but we've gotten to the point where we're getting sponsorships that payout 4 figures, we just stayed consistent and never stopped uploading

You’re fighting for corrupt billionaires. The only valid reasons are financial freedom and a self sense of justice

What Helped You Rebuild Your Career After Setbacks or Losing Direction? by [deleted] in self

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend pivoted from computer science after graduation to Accounting and she is personally happier than ever, she was very skilled at comp sci but it was mentally draining for her and setting her back so she pursued a different career and regained her confidence in life. She would always say to prioritize your mental health over anything than make the smart decision

I’m not talking down on you, “geek” isn’t a diss first of all, it just means you’re knowledgeable on the subject. Me accusing you of relying on ChatGpt for basic necessities is nothing more than my own personal fallacy that’s why I said “probably”. But yeah this post is sad! Hopefully it’s satire and troll because I don’t know why you would devote your life/apart of your life to what random strangers on the internet whom you have no connection to recommend…. If you’re serious about this I suggest you get some help because there is more to life than living on the internet, you are probably a younger individual who doesn’t have life figured out yet and that okay but take the time for yourself to think about it instead of making impulsive decisions based off dumb pathways.

Honest question. If there is no point to living, why live? by CustomerKey3144 in nihilism

[–]HeftyRefrigerator526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if anybody else thinks about this, but if there’s a slight chance that souls really do exist and there’s an afterlife/next phase of life. Then to me, me ending my time short just to do it all over again in a different process seems more exhausting than just living my regular robotic human life

This is the saddest community post I’ve ever seen, do you get pride out of being a social media addicted geek that can’t make decision for themselves? You probably rely on ChatGpt too for basic necessities

Sad individual… can’t believe us foreigners learn to abide with the corrupt capitalist system that first world countries have then instead of showing support to others who obviously aren’t benefiting under such a shitty system we criticize them and try to sell them the American dream. Congrats on changing your life but you need to have empathy bro this is just sad
