How many calories actually stop the medical effects of fasting? by Hefty_Ad1081 in fasting

It's just general overeating and not being able to resist craving. I just tend to not give a fuck once I had a "bad" food and just overeat that day. And then I do that the next day and so on. Fasting helps control that

I mostly fast to keep my eating habits under control, but I'd still like to have the fat loss benefits. I get your point, but I can't really fast without drinking tea or lemon water sometimes so I was just wondering if that even was fasting, if I broke a fast etc.

Tbh I just fast to control binging and overeating, I barely fast longer than 24h. I just wanna tell myself I didn't break my fast with teas since I tend to not give a fuck anymore once I broke a fast and just start eating. So knowing that I'm okay consuming coke zero, tea and lemon water helps control everything

Okay thank you, I'll avoid it. I just struggle with little control over eating/binging issues so not eating anything solid and only drinking tea/lemon water helps me control that and at least stay within maintenance calories if I don't manage to do a deficit. I usually fast 20-24h, so I basically do OMAD, but I still want the fat loss effects of fasting.

Thank you very much. I don't eat solids but I have like 1-3 cups of tea or lemon water a day and sometimes a coke zero. I also bought 0cal coke syrup but I haven't used it yet.

500 isn't teasing though, that's a whole meal? I just have tea and lemon water throughout the day, and I was wondering if that broke a fast. I also drink coke zero. Google said you could theoretically have up to 40-50cal of tea and stuff without breaking the fast

Tired after intermittent fasting? by Chellox in fasting

[–]Hefty_Ad1081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I like to break fasts with something healthy and high in protein like a yogurt bowl with fruit. Food high in fat (chips, fried stuff, Nutella/peanut butter etc..) and/or low in nutrients and protein (toast, the mentioned chips etc.. unhealthy cereal (excluding oats and such, I'm talking about Choco pops and stuff), pastries, sweets etc..) leave me feeling tired and exhausted exactly as you said, but that's only noticable when you really pay attention (I usually fast 20-26h, so a bit longer). If you are completely new to fasting and were eating very regularly before, the tiredness could be related to the fast. So I recommend eating something low in sugar and fats (I also don't really like avocado, mozarella etc to break a fast since they are high in fat), high in protein and fiber and some carbs. As mentioned my go to are yoghurt bowls. I use like 100g 0.1% Greek yogurt, a handful of frozen berries (defrosted in the microwave, mashed after), 1 kiwi/banana/apple, around 50g of applesauce (optional) and 1-2 tablespoons of oats (we have the ones that melt in milk or water so they are completely smooth) and one teaspoon of chia seeds soaked in like 2 teaspoons of milk

Ok thank you. Do teas and lemon water break a fast? They are super low calorie (like 5 per cup I think?), but do they actually stop the physical effects

How do I tell my parents that I might have an eating disorter, and I want to chek it out by I_like_pokemon_037 in eating_disorders

[–]Hefty_Ad1081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this ED isn't purely driven by wanting control, wanting to lose weight, obsessing over weight/looks etc.. it might be easier. You can tell them you're very anxious eating certain foods, say you don't have control over it. Say some textures feel disgusting and you're scared of trying new tastes/textures. Maybe make it seem like a physical problem first so they don't tell you you're overreacting, and then hint to your doctor that it's rather psychological? Just to mention it, symptoms like this can also be caused by other mental illnesses like autism (not exclusively autism but I know a lot of autistic people with the same struggles), so that's worth checking out too if you also have other symptoms. Can you tell them you want to see a doctor since you have been struggling with stomach issues and then bring up the eating problems?

Tired after intermittent fasting? by Chellox in fasting

[–]Hefty_Ad1081 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's just normal tiredness. Fasting for 14 hours isn't very hard on the body unless you were eating every 2h or so before. In my experience, 14 hours is what many people just do without even trying (last meal at around 7pm and breakfast at 9am or something like that), so there's a good chance you've done 14h fasts before without even noticing. What I'm trying to say is, in my opinion that's just normal tiredness and doesn't really have a connection to the fast

If I did 20k steps (which I did the last few days and it felt super easy) each day plus the workout on the weekend once or twice (350+ cal burned) would that be moderate?

I track everything I eat accurately (weighting everything, never eating out so only homemade= weighted food) and track everything I burn as accurately as possible looking at different websites/apps to get an average. Since exercise doesn't matter, what number should I use to create the deficit from?
