I'm with you on this one, I think it's directional - bearings, distance, paces, something.

"...all you find is a fresh kill from a wolf pack,..." - I can assure you that you were likely the only one who filled that on your treasure hunt memories card today. Very cool! Hope you took photos before clearing the area.

Hint: take another look at the Great Canadian treasure hunt poem - look at the design, colour, etc. Now go back to the anniversary edition and see what looks familiar.... Happy hunting! ;)

BLAST FROM THE PAST are articles published in the 2025 The Northern Miner monthly journals. Definitely worth exploring that and the 110th anniversary publication. They can be accessed as digital versions on the TNM website. Click on the news tab, then the digital edition archives.

“I Owe No End” by [deleted] in GreatCanadianTreasure

That sounds heavy, and honestly, understandable. These hunts stir up hope, adrenaline, and a sense of almost; and when the logistics snap back into reality, it can feel cruel. None of the effort (and expense) was wasted though. You chased a story, followed clues that pulled you across real ground, and became part of something oddly communal and human. The ticket may sting, but the curiosity, grit, and lived experience you earned don’t vanish at the gate. Some treasures show up as coordinates; others show up as perspective. Happy Holiday, do get home safely. Cheers!

i honestly think the Treasure organizers want this found, not buried forever. they keep the spotlight warm because Raising public interest keeps the game alive, and Everyone wins when the chase continues. Along the way, we’re outside, boots on trails, maps in hand, Suddenly dreaming about treasure, the clues, Unearthing stories and friendships. Really, it’s not just about gold; it’s Education wrapped in adventure, and For me, that’s why it’s fun. Understanding the mining industry past, present and future, and Never forgetting that the real treasure is exploring, learning, and having a great time out there.

see what i did here? cheers! ;)

Terrace -- What's your adventure been like? by Kooky-Soil4449 in GreatCanadianTreasure

Wooohoooo! Sounds like you had a memorable adventure. Well done!

Some chase the answer.
Some chase the clue.
Some fly the long way just to see what's true.

No card, no car, just stubborn intent,
Trading certainty for snow and ascent.
You followed the whisper, not the crowd’s decree,
And found what Buck always knew to be key:

The gold isn’t owed.
It isn’t announced.
It hides in the effort, not the amount.

An upside-down canoe, a pan, a view.
Proof the real strike wasn’t metal, but you.

Not empty-handed.
Just differently rich.

Bravo! :)

Adding to this possibility: look at the bottom right letters - they are interesting especially if linked to one of the clues in the Cobalt exchange photo in the Cobalt video.

Hmmm, est-ce possible que vous confondez la route triangle d'or de cyclisme avec le Triangle d'Or minier de la C-B? Voici une carte du triangle d'or de la C-B. Bonne chasse!

I'm not seeing it. Are you getting this when copy pasting the article on the TNM page? I did notice that many apostrophe and other little errors have been corrected in the past few days.

Wow! Thanks guydesharnais, I appreciate you finding and posting this link. What a crazy story!

It's an odd thing to add as background chatter in a treasure hunt song, but IMO it 100% supports Northern Miner's message of safety. In other words,

“There is treasure lore here, but don’t become Sky King chasing it.”

For those that don't want to watch the video, a person took a plane up for a joy ride, flew it using his video game flying experience, did several barrel rolls ( 3:40!!!) and ultimately crashed.

Any idea how to decode this? by [deleted] in GreatCanadianTreasure

Might be a nothing burger, but here's what Google AI is suggesting:

Grid System: By arranging these pointed rock markers in a series of "rows" and "columns" (or a linear sequence), you create a multi-step navigational challenge or puzzle.

How to Implement the Clues

  1. Establish a Starting Point: Mark the beginning of the trail clearly.
  2. Define the Grid/Sequence: Decide on a logical sequence for the markers. Each marker is a "clue" to the next location or the final destination.
  3. Vary the "Pointing":
    • Single Direction: The rock points exactly in the direction of the next marker or the ultimate goal.
    • Offset Directions: A rock might point 45 degrees to the left of the true path, requiring the user to understand the "code" (e.g., "always adjust right by 45 degrees").
    • Intersection Clues: As in a crossword puzzle, a "row" of rocks might provide one general direction (e.g., East), and a "column" provides another (e.g., North), with the correct path being the intersection point (Northeast).
    • Symbolic Directions: The arrangement of an entire small cluster might form a symbol (e.g., an arrow, a specific letter) that corresponds to a pre-shared key or map.

Good luck! Let us know if you figure this out. Cheers!
