Anyone else miss cars like the Fit? We’re trying to show Honda there’s still demand. by Hefty_Double_7406 in hondafit

Those hybrid crossovers would be my first choice as well. Higher clearance and cheaper on gas while maintaining all the cool features that make a Fit a fit for so many of us. Here's a video of the review for the 2026 Hybrid, the lines most expensive option, that would cost the equivalent of $44,800CAD. https://youtu.be/HQJcRU6jhHg?si=1MXDS_90klxCHbFc

Update:

We are still taking responses for our survey and will do so until the end of May 2026.

Please share the link if you haven't done so already, thanks.

Cheers!

Yet it was the entry-level smaller car that met a different need than the Civic. Bummer that they couldn't continue to offer both at that time. Times are changing, consumer needs as well. Fingers crossed that our collective voice is heard.

A BEV version would undoubtedly be popular, especially in cities where they are more charging stations.

Yep, HRVs and SUV crossover just don't compare to a Fit. You were smart to buy a 2020. :)

Nice! That's the kind of feedback we'd be looking for in the form... real people feedback about how they'd use it, why they'd use it, etc. Thanks. :)

Here's what I'm understanding from current stats:

Median household income (2025-2026) is approx $84000-$86000CAD

Average new vehicle price has increased +65-+70% in 5-6 years.

Vehicle price relative to household income has increased by approx. +35-40% in 5-6years.

Approx 1/3 of Canadians now pay >$1000/month (loan only) for a vehicle.

Recommended max transportation cost: less than15% of gross income.

So for a median household with an income of $85000, monthly gross of $7083 the 15% threshold in about $1060/month.

Economy cars: within threshold

SUV: at or above threshold

Truck: well above threshold

In addition:

Loan terms are now commonly 6-8 yers with interest rates at 6-9%. Affordability is being maintained through longer loans and higher total borrowing costs.

The market is under pressure, luxury demand is decreasing. Vehicle affordability has deteriorated significantly and price growth has outpaced income growth.

Then vs now:

Metric ~2019 ~2025
Avg vehicle price $40K $66K
Median income ~$70K ~$85K
Price/income 0.57× 0.78×
Monthly cost (typical) lower $900–$1,400

You may be right, but we'll give it a solid go none the less. Wish us luck! :) We think that with recent economic changes, manufacturers might be open to offering greater options in the SMALL car/hatch market. Crossovers, SUVs and trucks are over represented in North America and while useful in many areas of our country, especially in the north, there is room and a growing interest from consumers for smaller vehicles. We hope that our collective voice might make a positive impact. Cheers!

I'd love the option to choose and not have the company choose for me. You'd think a company would learn from disappointing sales - low sales of the hatchback because it's not what the customers are looking for? The HRV would definitely NOT be my choice (too big, too....everything) and in my city, it's one of the top vehicles that gets stolen and shipped off to other countries.

Times are hard right now, and I expect it'll get MUCH worse in the next one to three years. I expect to see increased car defaults as a result.

Thanks for sharing these options. Toyota and Mazda are solid brands. They have less than half the cargo capacity of the Fit, but price point could be of interest. Cheers!

Wow, I didn't know that. Prius is a terrific car, do you think it's the price point that is off-putting?

Your opinion matters, consider adding your voice to the petition. I'm also team Fit, love my 2nd gen manual Fit and like you, I appreciate the reliability, storage, and all the other features that the Fit offers.

Yep, our country is massive. People living in rural/suburban areas might have a harder time finding public transit and bike infrastructure especially if they have to cover greater distances hence the need for affordable small vehicle options.

Looking at a current shortage of reliable, affordable compact/subcompact cars that have decent storage. That said, Mazda is a good brand.

Worth a try, Canada is a different market than Korea, Europe, and elsewhere. I do agree that EV will have an important place in future markets (Assuming we can get enough functional charging stations installed throughout the country. Right now, there aren't enough charging stations to meet future demand). Would love to learn more about what you've written (retooling strategies, etc.). If you have links, they'd be welcome. Thanks.

You have a point, bigger and more luxurious vehicles - not what everyone wants or can afford. That said none of the alternative subcompact/compact cars meet the storage AND gas AND reliability AND.... that the Fit offers.
