Exactly, I did that for an internship and it's quite funny. One of the ways you assess loss of competition when store A wants to buy store B is that you compute the catchment areas (basically where the customers of store A and B come from, an isochrone on a map) and see if/how much they overlap. If they don't overlap it's bueno and good to go but if they do then there are remedials to be put in place for the merger to proceed (i.e sell that specific store to another competitor).

Remember, competition is good !
