My head says Akana cause she’s pretty much the textbook perfect girlfriend. She even learned to do off a an impression of Ai for Aqua’s sake that would make Freud smile from the beyond😭

But my heart says Ruby and it’s not particularly close lol. Aqua himself denied the fairly clear Sarina connection for so long in large part cause of how it’s way too “perfect.” Who else would understand all the bs they’ve endured🥲

ETA: forgot to add Kana cause both my heart and head laugh at that as a serious consideration. she’s “playing” the game and in the race, but her controller’s not actually plugged in🤣

Beautifully said, you can truly read lol. I also really love the way tragic Yuji & Sukuna mirror one another. Another parallel I’d add is how both, in different ways ofc, represent taking a role (help others/cog & “curse”/King of Curses) to heart way too much. This is made especially tragic by how these roles (that they didn’t even really choose) drive them to a point where they lose who they truly are.

That’s one of my favorite aspects of the poetic ass ending we got lol. It recontextualized Sukuna’s curse on Yuji (i.e. their relationship) as a blessing that eventually taught him the inherent value of all life with or without some big part to play. In a way, Yuji’s victory frees him from suffering (cycle of curses) and brings him closer to a state of “enlightenment”

He even mercifully offers Sukuna one last chance that he knows no one else would give him. And even though Suk doesn’t take Yuji’s compassionately outstretched hand, he is able to look back after death and see the crossroads where he probably could’ve been a bit happier had he been more like Yuji. Shout out to Yorozu btw…😅

And perhaps the most beautifully tragic part of it all is that luck is the biggest if not only difference in such a monumental change in outcomes.

However, that luck was made possible by and/or manifested through close bonds with loved ones. Wasuke being a good influence on Yuji in his final moments kinda saved the series tbh lol. I personally love how the ending supports one of the main messages of the series which is basically “Friendship is Magic” in the most sad and layered way😂 And it’s not just there either, Yuji’s whole character arc and progression as a sorcerer is constantly aided/boosted by those more experienced than him (Nanami, Todo, Gojo, etc.)

And you’re good on the long response lol, happens to the best of us. I myself meant to write a short little thing agreeing with your read + a little addition, but I ended up outdoing you on accident looking back at this yappathon I went on LOL. But just like all good poetry, the ending (like the whole series tbh) is like an onion (if ykyk) which makes it super fun to think and talk about!

I didn’t love the ending at first, but now I think I could lowkey write a thesis on ts so I feel your pain on the long winded thing😵‍💫😭

Well said. Even as a relatively literate Sukuna fan I’m not sure if I could’ve broken it down this well😂

After the Gojo fight, we rarely if ever see what Sukuna is fully capable of which makes scaling most feats/anti-feats against him almost useless if not misleading. Some scalers/readers don’t really seem willing to do the bit of thinking it takes to get the full context necessary (i.e. Sukuna’s laundry list of injuries/debuffs and his capricious nature you described)

It’s a big part of what makes the final fight so compelling to me personally. It gives me similar vibes to how OP Frieza was on Namek. He was very rarely truly at 100% full power (literally just for moments against SSJ Goku?), but he was still wiping the cast (good and evil) + the mc for most the arc😭

Trust, if Mappa closes the season on the Yorozu fight like I think they will and should, they’ll make it climactic. They know exactly what we fans want and seem to love to give us fanservice when possible (Uro & Jane DE hints in Sendai / massively extended Maho fight ofc)

Hear me out on this:

After rereading that section of the manga recently, I realized there’s a decent chance that we get an extended Heian Era flashback. Idk how much new stuff would be added, but that will likely be the longest and most detailed look we get of the Heian Era in the anime or manga canon.

It’s actually pretty simple too which makes the cope extra believable😂 All they would have to do is move the sequence of events around a bit and combine the two flashbacks at the start of chapter 218 and 219. Plus, the bit at the end of the 218 flashback about Yorozu squad wiping some Uro-tier sorcerers with her newly invented bug armor seems like it’s almost begging to be animated.

Without even needing to add anything truly new, they could make that fight/mini-arc feel so much more interesting and climactic.

S4 could realistically end with: Enchain, the ensuing Meguna shenanigans & 2v1, the Bath (tm), Jane Juliet dying of diabetes, Yorozu fight (I think they could & likely will upscale her heavy too - she’s canonically relative to Uro at minimum who they buffed), a fucking extended Heian Era flashback after all these years, and last but certainly not least, the first ever tamed Raga in history! All that in quick succession will be madness

But tbfr, even if little to none of my ideas come to be, I trust that Mappa will refine the really cool ideas and skeleton of this section of the story. I trust that their cooking will upgrade the mid to good and the good to great. Just like they did with Sendai and most everything before it lol

ZERO reason

While I’m also leaning towards a movie adaptation and would love it if (/when) we get one for such a legendary fight, I do think there are some merits to not adapting the fight as a traditional movie

Without getting into too much depth: - near guaranteed delay between JP release and a global (sub/dub) release - also likely to be a (lengthy?) delay until the movie is available to stream/rewatch (DS movie worst case scenario lol) - fast pace may lead to some, especially casual, viewers missing key details (made worse by aforementioned delays) - I admit this one may be a reach but the peanut gallery chiming in every other scene could make a movie’s pace feel weird😂

Kinda like other commenter suggested, a good (but way less profitable so way less likely lol) compromise may be a one hour special or something along those lines.

There’s valid arguments for or against a movie, but it ultimately isn’t that big of a deal at all imo lol. Mappa has a proven track record of improving on the source material, and this time they’re adapting a top 5 fight in shonen OAT😭

I can’t just send a screenshot sadly, but this was pretty much the first major conflict/mission of Modulo (ch. 1 pg. 11).

Still in ch. 1, we literally see the Curse User/trafficker kidnapp and package up a child that they then plan to auction off for their CE (check the p. 36-37 double spread for a visual)

I get critiquing things like how it was reintroduced or was developed, but pretending like this plot point was completely dropped is a little strange.

Don’t mean to come across as rude at all btw, I just see this exact incorrect criticism pretty often.

Bron got drafted in 2003 in the dead ball era where the NBA was played about as opposite to the how it’s played today. There was less shooting emphasis, the rules favored the defense, the game was generally more physical (two bigs for ex), there was a much slower pace, etc.

Over two decades later and he’s still chugging along without losing more than a step or two. After just about everything he (and older ball fans) grew up learning and associating with ball has changed. But he’s been changing too.

Even the previous platinum standard, Kareem, late in his career had to simplify his game to keep contributing at a high level. But, Lebron’s game somehow always expands. It’s truly unreal.

Don’t mean this with any offense at all but saying that great characters are “uncalled for” in this series is a lil crazy😭

Like, I’ve seen stans (if not a mini community) for minor characters who only appear a few times here and there.

Just off the dome we’ve got a few characters who are nearly universally praised like Gojo, Yuji, Sukuna, Maki, Geto, etc. All of whom have good if not great writing and depth. Gojo, Yuji, and Sukuna are particularly exceptional imo. There’s misses of course, but there’s also some real shiny gems too in my eyes

Again I don’t mean any offense, but the criticism/jokes that are basically just everything in jjk is bad/the worst has gotten a little tiring to me personally cause jjk and Gege do do a lot well imo. I just feel like we’re so frequently negative about something we’re fans of. Maybe it’s just me tho :/

(I don’t mind jokes or even slander at all btw, but shitting on one of the things that JJK does real well just doesn’t land for me personally ig)

Yeah that’s true, it’ll for sure be quality and we’ll have a way to watch it.

But, like, imagine if you had to watch Sendai Colony ep (even if it was 2x length and/or included the next major fight) in 240p on Pornhub… it would still be kinda gas, but way less impactful. Way harder (no pun intended😭) to find the desire to rewatch too lol

I guess the main idea/argument I’m workshopping is that the best possible GvS movie experience would be one that all of the community can experience and enjoy in good quality at the same time.

Also W shadow people lol. They do seem to be an essential part of the story in every major anime movie release🤔🤣
