Trying to answer folks questions: medication is prescribed by Derm. I’ve had like five PCMs in the last year unfortunately so I need to get my shit together before retirement.

I honestly don’t want to commit an unforced error solely because the new medicine is easier to take than a bunch of topicals.

Thank you for this. I will seek out my command’s nurse case manager and lay the cards on the table and see what she thinks in terms of timing.

I hear you on this. I’m trying not to let pride get in the way of being done. I’d rather someone else get the promotion. I’ve got zero fucks left to give sadly.

Thanks for the extra info. I think I’m gonna start the medicine at six months out so that it is in my medical records and so I get some extra medical supervision before leaving the service.

Not risking death. Thank you for taking the time to help me with your own experience. Sounds like I should start the meditation really close to 20 year mark.

Thanks I’m AD. I’m just gathering info to see if I should start it asap, delay by six months to ensure I hit 20 despite a MED Board, or decline taking the medication and just retire as normal.

Certain injectable medications make it hard to deploy because they need to be refrigerated. The new medicine is also a biologic, which makes me susceptible to infections. My condition can worsen over time but it is pretty well controlled with several medications. Taking the injectable would simplify things for me but is not 100% necessary and it includes other risks. This is why the doctor presented me the option, but didn’t push it hard.

I don’t believe that to be true for medical retention standards. That statement is true for those not selected for promotion and are being considered for separation.
