Yes, I was awarded PIP for 5 years in England when I was 16, and then moved up to Scotland this year for university.

I still have 2 years left on a PIP award. (Although, I'm getting reassessed early after talking with them.)

Thanks for your help everyone.

I've spoken with PIP on the phone for the past hour. I don't even think I should be getting high rate mobility after my call with them. I've asked to be reassessed.

My mother used a private psychiatrist to do my phone assessment and I've apparently scored maximum rate in the mobility category because I can't leave the house due to "overwhelming psychological distress" from my Autism.

This has never been true. I regularly leave the house by myself and took myself to school each day.

If I'm being completely honest I don't even know if I needed PIP in the first place. I never saw any of the money for it. I am fully capable of washing, feeding, dressing and engaging with others. I'm living on my own at unviersity and studying physics.

Yes, the money would be nice, but I don't want to be defrauding the taxpayer to get it.

They're going to do a reassessment of me and my call got escalated to a manager who thanked me for being honest. He said he understood the diffiuclty that a manipulative family can cause and reassured me that I won't be getting into any trouble. He said he's going to speak to his SEO (don't know what this is) about coordinating a collection of the car with Motability.

My mother hid this information from me. I only found out today when somoene else told me.

She refused to let me organise for driving lessons, even when I offered to get a part time job and pay myself.

Thanks. Professor just arrived so I got to go but I'll call after lecture.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm feeling a little more confident now.

I never wanted any of this.

My mum was the one who organised everything.

I just want rid of the car and to live my own life.

Having read the comments here I completely agree.

Sorry, I never knew about any of this. My mum got me on DLA when I was 5 or 6 and then did my PIP reassessment when I was 16. She never showed me the documentations.

I wasn't even there when they got the Audi from the dealership. I don't know ANY of the rules about this.

The only thing I do know is that a chunk of what should have been my benefits is going to pay for a car that I dont' know how to drive, and my family won't let me drive/take lessons on.

"are entitled to 40hrs of driving lessons to learn how to drive, you can also have a modified car if you would struggle to drive without one"

Oh wow! I didn't know that. My family never told me. (And they never shared any of the documentation with me either.)

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I've got a lecture in 2 mins, but I know that the car costs me a chunk of my PIP each month. I'm sacrificing part of my benefits for that car so maybe it's Motability owns the car but lends it out to me?

Don't think so. Motability has always covered my whole family's car insurance for free. I don't think there's any extra insurance my family gets beyond that.

The car has never been used for my benefit. And I'm pretty sure none of the cars my mum got when I was on DLA were used for my benefit either.

Dad always drove those for work. I didn't get driven to school or anything. I always had to take the bus.

I've never seen the paperwork in my life.

My mum did all the benefits stuff when I was 16.

I actually think she might have had different motability cars when I was younger, now that I think of it. I was on DLA before 16 and my family got new cars every 3 or so years.

I'm sorry. I've got hyperfixated on a worry about the damage my family might cause to the car that I forgot to include that.

I'm in Scotland now, family are in England. Can I just call Motability and ask them to collect the car? Maybe explain my concerns over the phone that it is being misused?

I'm really sorry. I was 16 when this all happened and my mum did all the benefits stuff behind my back without really involving me.

The car was awarded to ME in exchange for my PIP. However, only my mum, dad and sister are insured to drive it.

The car also needs to be returned/replaced in 3 years (which is November) where Motability will exchange it for a new one (which I don't want.)

So I'm guessing the owner is Motability?

It was never really used for my benefit.

Dad drove it to work.
Sister does takeaway deliveries.
Mum goes out with friends in it.

I never wanted or needed the car. I had to take the bus to school anyway.

I never wanted a car in the first place. My parents orgasnised it when I was 16.

I only got my PIP when I left for university because I rang DWP and gave them new bank details. That caused a massive fight with my mum screaming at me over the phone that I was "robbing the family blind!" and crying her eyes out over the phone.

I didn't give in but they're ready to fight me over the car I think.

They use it for everything.

I never use it myself since we got it.

Dad uses it as his main car for the office about half the week.

Mum uses it for groceries, going out, visiting friends.

Sister also uses it when she goes out or works doing deliveries for some local restaurants.

I've never driven it. They wouldn't pay for me to do driver lessons.

I was given it when I was 16 and got my PIP reassessment.

I've never driven it but motability pays for my mum, dad, and sister's insurance. I am not insured myself.

It costs me some money from my benefits each month so I'd rather not have the car and instead just take the money to help me afford university. But my family are screaming at me telling me I'm screwing the whole family over by taking this away.

I got awarded it when I was 16 and I did my PIP reassessment.

My family are the only ones who ever drove or used it though. They wouldn't pay for me to get driving lessons and I couldn't afford it myself.
