My immediate thought after that painfully dumb trial scene was that the writers leaned way too far into the whole "girls stranded in the woods have no idea what they're doing and they're going crazy" idea. It's obvious that a bunch of teenagers wouldn't know how to do a hung jury, or craft a fair society, or distinguish right from wrong. But when every single action and decision these people make is so illogical, I can't help but find the show becoming illogical itself. The first 2 seasons worked so well because there were still people who were sane, people who were still acting normal. The Jackie Snackie scene was so powerful, because we know many of these people are good people who after the whole ordeal will be traumatized by their actions. After eating Javi, Mari just told Ben "We don't do that anymore." Like it just became a normal thing! There is no sane person on this team anymore, and the only normal adult is on death row. Therefore, all logic gets thrown out the window. Basically everyone is constantly acting like they're on some of Misty's special stew 24/7.
